Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Hillary Duff and more shared their prayers and heartbreak for the families who lost their homes and loved ones during the destructive floods that took place in Texas last weekend.

“Heartbroken doesn’t even begin to cover it. Consumed. Obsessed. Praying for even a shred of a miracle to find a child alive in the wake of this boundless disaster…” Duff wrote in a lengthy, heartfelt letter she shared on Instagram. “Beautiful Texas, I love you. To all the boots on the ground, I love you. To those facing tremendous, impossible loss, we are looking at their beautiful faces, embossing them in our minds. We will remember them. Bright lights, gone far too soon.”

“At least 70 lives have been lost, many more are unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting — the inside and out,” McConaughey added on an Instagram post of his own. “If you’re able, please lend a helping hand where you can. It’s gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor. Texans are the most resilient and generous people on the planet.”

“Texas. God, be near,” Garner, who was born in Houston, shared on her Instagram Stories.

As of Monday, 82 people were confirmed killed by the floods as the Guadalupe River rose as much as 26 feet in 45 minutes. This led to mass destruction for the people and buildings in the way. Devastatingly, many of these victims are young girls who were attending a Christian summer camp along the river.

Many who attended similar camps growing up imagined themselves in these girls’ shoes as they realize they could have just as likely ended up in a similar situation.

“I grew up spending my summers on the Guadalupe at an all girls camp next to camp mystic,” wrote actress Meredith Hagner on her Instagram Stories. “Part of my heart and soul is the Guadalupe river and in the hill country. A spot where little girls were safe and loved and were connected to nature,” she continued. “My heart is shattered for the parents experiencing the unfathomable.”

“I’m sitting outside waiting for my daughter at a playdate thinking about how we were almost thinking of Camp Mystic for a camp choice,” added Christy Carlson Romano. “A lot of people I know send their kids there and a few of them don’t know where their kids are or they were just recently reunited with them.”

Please keep those affected by the floods in your prayers as rescue efforts continue and those who are still missing begin to be accounted for.
