Hallmark announced a movie film in the works following the success of the hit Christmas THREE WISE MEN movies.
In an interview with PEOPLE following the first movie’s sequel, actor Andrew Walker shared, “We were surprised at the reaction that people had with the first THREE WISE MEN, and we’re just glad to do it again.”
Co-star and writer Paul Campbell added, “I think we found something really great, really fun with the first one. Hopefully, we can live up to that.”
In addition to Walker and Campbell, Tyler Hynes and Margaret Colin will reprise their roles in the Brenner family. The first film, THREE WISE MEN AND A BABY, premiered in 2022 and was an instant hit, becoming the No. 1 most-watched cable movie of the year. The story follows three brothers who must unexpectedly must take care of a baby around Christmastime.
It’s no surprise the film was a success. Rather than fall into the usual fare of a predictable romance, THREE WISE MEN brought something new to the Christmas movie catalogue.
One review provides insight to the film’s success, sharing how it tackled difficult, complex topics such as “male sensitivity and vulnerability, mental stress, anxiety, fear of abandonment and living with your parents past 30.” Not only that, but the internalized trauma of their father leaving impacted each brother, and we see it play out in their adult lives.
The beauty of this movie is seeing how a family can come together from a shared obstacle and open up to each other. Viewers praised the cast’s hilarious and heartfelt performances, particularly how the three brothers played off each other. In interviews, you would be surprised to learn these actors aren’t really brothers, though their fun, playful banter captures the bond of siblings.
The movie’s sequel, THREE WISER MEN AND A BOY, delivers even more laughs and fun moments as the brothers work to put together a pageant for little Thomas and deal with their mom’s new boyfriend.
Actors Campbell, Hynes and Walker are Hallmark veterans and favorites. Campbell worked as a writer on six Hallmark movies, including the first two of THREE WISE MEN. Hynes and Walker are contenders for the King of Hallmark, with both starring in several Hallmark films like IT WAS ALWAYS YOU and BOTTLED WITH LOVE, respectively.
Jennifer Kramer, vice president of programming at Hallmark Media, expressed, “In 2022, our Brenner brothers, Andrew, Tyler and Paul danced — literally — into viewers’ hearts, creating on-screen magic and a ratings hit. The THREE WISE MEN movies are funny, heartwarming and show the power of family and brotherhood.”
The third installment of THREE WISE MEN is sure to bring heartfelt moments, hilarious scenes and holiday cheer this Christmas.
