Comedian and actor Joel McHale got surprisingly emotional during his episode of the Property Brothers’ CELEBRITY IOU.

“How many celebrities cry on this?” he joked at the beginning of the episode. “Does everyone cry except for me?”

However, when McHale revealed the renovated home to his “LA grandma,” even he couldn’t avoid getting choked up.

“Even @joelmchale is susceptible to the emotions of a life-altering home makeover,” the official HGTV Instagram account wrote

McHale is part of a majorly star-studded line-up for CELEBRITY IOU this season. The show, which allows a celeb to renovate a home for someone deserving in their life, has featured SUPERMAN star Rachel Brosnahan, supermodel Tyra Banks, actress Jane Seymour and Olympic gold medalist Shaun White.

“You don’t get to see these celebrities the way we showcase them outside of their shows or on stage,” Drew Scott told PEOPLE ahead of the show’s seventh season, adding that each celebrity has a “heartwarming story” to share about the person they’re helping.

Jonathan Scott shared that it’s been touching to watch the stars “jump in and do something that they have no experience doing. They don’t say no because they want to show their gratitude for how much these people have done for them.”

The Property Brothers also have two new projects coming up for HGTV — a second season of DON’T HATE YOUR HOUSE and the premiere of CHASING THE WEST.

CHASING THE WEST will see the Scotts help families in need of an escape from hectic city life find the ranch of their dreams.

“We grew up on a ranch in some of the most beautiful country around, and now we’re helping a new generation of people achieve that dream,” Drew said in a statement about the show.

Jonathan added, “The lessons we’ve learned and our passion for the ways of the West made us who we are, and we wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

“This show is so much fun,” Drew said during an interview with GOOD DAY SACREMENTO. “It brought us back to our roots…this was so nostalgic for us to get back in the saddle and help these families figure out what life outside the city would be like, realistically.”

Jonathan explained that the people featured on CHASING THE WEST are “tired of the fast pace and the craziness and everything you expect from the city,” and the Property Brothers plan to help them “escape to somewhere where they can breathe and have some space.”

CHASING THE WEST premieres July 30 and, if McHale’s reaction in CELEBRITY IOU is anything to off of, expect plenty more emotional moments from the Property Brothers!
