Former NFL quarterback Jim Kelly and his family ask for prayers as his new grandson “fights for his life,” according to Parade.

“If you have any extra love and energy available, please send all of it to this amazing man and his family,” Hallmark actress Patti Murin shared on Instagram. @jimkelly1212 and @jillmkelly are on an extremely difficult journey right now and need as many of us to rally around them as possible. They are truly incredible people.”

Kelly’s daughter Erin and her husband Parker welcomed their first child, a son they’ve referred to as “Little Bean” on social media, last month.

Shortly after his birth, the family announced that the baby experienced “unexpected medical complications,” which, to protect the family’s privacy, they didn’t specify.

“We’ve felt your support and prayers through some of the darkest days of our lives — and we’ll never be able to thank you enough,” Kelly posted on Instagram. “Your kindness towards our family and your prayers have reminded us that we’re not alone.”

“Well, we need your prayers again. We never imagined we would be here in this place of heartbreak and suffering again,” he continued. “Please pray for our daughter Erin, her husband Parker, and their precious newborn baby boy. Pray that God would rescue, heal, and restore Baby Bean — in ways only He can. That He would breathe life, healing, and peace into every moment. That His presence would surround them and His power would move mightily on their behalf.”

On Friday, Kelly provided an update on Little Bean’s health.

“We have an amazing UPDATE to share…one that only God could orchestrate. On August 5th, Hunter’s Heaven Day, Little Bean came off of oxygen… and has remained off ever since. We believe with all our hearts that this is an answer to prayer and a glimpse of God’s healing power,” he wrote.

“Hunter’s Heaven Day” refers to the day that Kelly’s son, Hunter, went to be with the Lord.

“The timing is not a coincidence. It’s a reminder that God knows. He is working. And He’s always on time,” the former NFL star said.

“We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the doctors, the critical care team, the nurses, and every single person at the hospital who has helped care for Little Bean. Their dedication, expertise, and compassion have been such a gift to our family,” Kelly added. But even more than that, we recognize that their wisdom and skill are gifts from God. He is the One who gives knowledge to heal, compassion to care, and strength to carry the weight of suffering. He is the One sustaining Little Bean. He is the ultimate Healer.”

Continue to pray for the entire Kelly family as Little Bean fights for his life.
