It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me.
– Daniel 4:2
Does God care about every detail of your life and delight in giving you the desires of your heart?
As noted, in Latin, the term “miracles” means billboards…signs or reminders pointing to God. In my travels around the world, I have experienced a myriad of billboards.
Once upon arriving in Jerusalem to film a documentary, the contact person responsible for making all the production arrangements completely forgot the date of our arrival and left us with exorbitant costs. After hiring a local production company, Jerusalem Capitol Studios, we proceeded to produce the movie. God answered my prayer to make up for all the cost overruns when Jerusalem Capitol Studios discounted their costs to bail us out, so we were able to complete the project.
We eventually looked around for my director, Jack, a good friend of mine whose daughter had a very rare disease that eventually took her life after three brief years. I found Jack praying in the midst of the swarms of tourists who were flowing through the Church of the Nativity. I asked, “What are you praying for?” He answered that he had never been outside of the United States before, and he wanted to come back to Israel within the year with his wife, who had suffered much because of the pain and suffering of their young daughter, so she could experience the miracle of the Holy Land.
A few months later, while in the New York post-production editing the film, Jack got a call from the State of Israel inviting him to come back to the country to film a project for them. When he called me, I reminded Jack that he got his answer to his Church of the Nativity prayer, “You asked God to let you go back in a year, and here’s your invitation.” Jack replied, “But, I wanted my wife to go too.” I suggested Jack pray about it. At the eleventh hour, someone dropped out, and his wife got to go with him to Israel.
Soon after this spectacular answered prayer, I was flying to LaGuardia to help with the editing and thinking about Jack and his wife getting to go to Israel courtesy of God. I was appealing to God with such entreaties as, “Why didn’t I pray at the Church of the Nativity? I’d love to go back to Israel.”
The severe weather delayed the landing at LaGuardia for about an hour. When I landed, I called the director, who was paying considerable money to reserve studio time for editing the film. He said that I was getting frantic calls from a missionary organization that I didn’t know from North Carolina. The organization had been given a grant from a man in Texas to produce a missionary movie around the world. The grant stipulated that I had to be the executive producer and fly around the world again to produce the movie.
Soon after this miracle, one of my associates, Bruce, quipped, “Why didn’t you pray for me to go?” Therefore, a week before I was booked to leave, I prayed for him. Three days before departure, the cameraman on the missionary movie had to drop out because of a family matter. After making frantic calls to locate a new cameraman, I realized that my associate had been a cameraman many years before. The vacant slot enabled Bruce to become part of the team.
