In a new post on Instagram, Grammy-winning pop star Justin Bieber got real about his understanding of God’s forgiveness.

“Grateful for a new day. Grateful for Jesus. He meets me every morning with forgiveness and love that I truly don’t deserve,” Bieber wrote in a post shared with his 294 million Instagram followers.

“So grateful that he gives this love so freely, so graciously,” he continued. “Wouldn’t be able to get through the day without his love. It meets me at my lowest.”

While the mega star certainly has experienced his share of struggles throughout his career, he often speaks about his faith.

In 2020, Bieber encouraged his followers to learn about Jesus’ love for themselves.

“Thinking about our performance and morality can leave us feeling discouraged because we feel as though we can never measure up,” Bieber wrote. “But I have good news.. Jesus, being fully God yet fully man, took our past, present, and future sins, forgiving us, allowing us to walk free of shame. Did we earn it? NOPE…. did we deserve it? NOPE.”

“Our JOY should be coming from the finished work of what Jesus did on the cross, the simple fact that we are completely wiped clean from all of our sin,” he continued. “Jesus did what we couldn’t do for ourselves. He who knew no sin became sin so that we can have a real, true, intimate relationship with our God. Not by earning or deserving it, but by simply receiving! This is good news.. There is nothing you can do to make God love you more or less than he does RIGHT NOW. SIT IN THAT. REST IN THAT. YOU ARE WORTH LOVING. There is no earning God’s love! It is a free gift. Just believe it and receive it. God will do the rest!”

In an April post, Bieber vulnerably expressed his sorrow over his flaws, pointing to love as the solution.

“I’m just an average flawed guy. I’ve done things that have hurt others. I continue to do and say things that hurt others unintentionally,” he admitted. “Yet I woke up this morning with another opportunity to grow and not be so selfish today.”

He went on, “LOVE DRAWS US IN. LOVE DOESN’T CONDEMN. LOVE BELIEVES THE BEST. LOVE HOPES ALL THINGS AND ENDURES ALL THINGS. IT DOESN’T KEEP RECORD OF WRONG. LOVE HELPS U TO FORGIVE AND LOVE EVEN YOUR ENEMIES.”

Like all of us, Bieber’s life is far from perfect, but he know that God’s love and forgiveness make him whole. We can take comfort in that truth, too.
