A new 9-1-1 spinoff based in Nashville and starring some familiar famous faces is in the works.

Titled 9-1-1: NASHVILLE, the new show will star Chris O’Donnell (NCIS) as Captian Don Sharpe, a “veteran firefighter and former rodeo star who leads the Nashville firehouse,” and Jessica Capshaw (GREY’S ANATOMY) as Blythe Sharpe, his wife.

Setting the show in Music City offers a lot of potential.

“There were a lot of possibilities that had been talked about,” 9-1-1: NASHVILLE executive producer Tim Minear told TVLine. “One, I think that it’s a really interesting city with its own personality. It’s very unlike Austin. We did kind of a red state 9-1-1 [with LONE STAR], but Austin is a very blue town. Nashville felt even a little bit more Southern. It also has the country music industry, and it just felt like it could be a fun place to set a piece of the franchise.”

Showrunner Rashad Raisani confirmed that 9-1-1: NASHVILLE has lots of wild plot lines ahead.

“We have an Airstream trailer that ends up on top of a bridge and a poor guy on a Segway tour of the city who ends up impaled on a water tower. We’re going to get a bunch of crazy emergencies where people end up in places where they shouldn’t be,” he said.

He also teased, “The show begins with an explosive revelation that affects the central dynamic of a character’s world. And then we shamelessly use tornadoes to great effect as a metaphor for the storm that has come into these characters’ lives.”

Along with O’Donnell and Capshaw, the cast includes Michael Provost, Hailey Kilgore, Juani Feliz, Hunter McVey, LeAnn Rimes and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

Capshaw updated her fans about her new role on Instagram and revealed 9-1-1: NASHVILLE will air before GREY’S ANATOMY, the show that launched the actress’ career.

“OH and did you hear? @911nashville premieres Oct 9th before the new season of @greysabc,” she wrote in the caption.

The 9-1-1: NASHVILLE Instagram account commented, “that trip from Nashville to Seattle has never been faster!” Another person added, “I can’t wait to see you back on my screen every week. I’m so happy for you.”

Raisaini said of Capshaw’s character, “So there’s a story of class. She comes from money, but there was a fire at her ranch, and she fell for this blue-collar firefighter.”

Country singer LeAnn Rimes joins the cast as Dixie, a “country crooner.” Raisani revealed that her character is someone “who always felt like she deserved more than she got. As our series starts, she’s going to try and take what’s hers.”

Rimes expressed her excitement for the role in a May Instagram post.

“The secret’s out! I’m super excited…I can’t wait for you to meet my character. We’re going to have some FUN!! Here’s to a new adventure!” she wrote.

9-1-1: NASHVILLE premieres on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 9/8c on ABC.
