Country music legend George Strait received two massive honors last week.

The singer will be a 2025 Kennedy Center Honors recipient and will also be inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame next year, according to Parade.

“Today we officially announce the incredibly talented artists that will be celebrated later this year at the 2025 Kennedy Center Honors,” President Donald Trump announced at a press conference a few weeks ago. “Since 1978, the Kennedy Center Honors have been among the most prestigious awards in the performing arts…this year, the board has selected a truly exceptional class of honorees.”

“First is country music star, actor, producer George Strait…Over an extraordinary, four-decade career, George has sold more than 120 million records worldwide, amassed 60 No. 1 hits…and produced 33 platinum-certified albums, more than any other living American,” the President continued. “He is believed by millions of people to just be as good as you can get, and he is beloved by hundreds of millions of people all over the world. He’s really something. They call him the King of Country; we know him very well, George Strait.”

The other honorees of the award include Broadway star Michael Crawford, singer Gloria Gaynor, rock band KISS and actor Sylvester Stallone, per Parade.

The King of Country, who has received “over 110 million RIAA certifications throughout his career,” will be inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame next year.

“🎤 20 Years. 4 Icons. 1 Legendary Weekend. 🎶” Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame announced on Instagram.

Along with Strait, other inductees include Don Cook, Keith Gattis and Miranda Lambert.

“Join us February 21 in Austin, Texas, for a star-studded weekend celebrating these iconic Texas songwriters,” the post continued.

The Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame awards show will include a “2-day celebration that brings together our latest class of songwriters who represent the spirit of Texas into the spotlight for a unique ceremony and inducts them into the TxHSA Hall of Fame.”

Strait is known for his philanthropy, most recently hosting a benefit concert in July for the Hill Country flood victims.

“WE ARE SOLD OUT–Thank you to everyone who has inquired about and purchased tickets to our event to benefit those affected by the flood in Texas. We are accepting donations at the link in bio,” Strait shared on social media.

Strait’s legendary career certainly makes him the perfect choice for both the Kennedy Center Honor and induction into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame.
