From family losses to struggling in the entertainment industry, Patricia Heaton has always relied on her faith.
“I had a very tragic disruption when I was twelve,” the EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND actress told Jesus Calling. “My mother died from an aneurysm suddenly, and that kind of threw everything into a bit of chaos for many years.”
Heaton explained that, looking back on that time, “it was so important that we had our Catholic faith because there’s a certain foundation with that that you land on when things like that happen.”
“You’re still dealing with grief and pain and there’s suffering, but because we knew she was with Jesus, there’s certain things you don’t have to wonder about,” she continued. “Where is my mom? Will I ever see her again? We know we will, so that’s a certain comfort.”

Heaton brought that reliance on her faith to her ups and downs in the entertainment industry.
“The entertainment industry is really a difficult industry — there are no guarantees and there is zero security,” she said. “It’s actually a really good place to be, because in life, there’s zero security except our relationship with Jesus. That’s the only guarantee.”
Heaton now works to bring her faith into her work as an actress and producer with Four Boys Entertainment, her production company. She runs it alongside her husband, actor and director David Hunt.
“We named our company ‘Four Boys Entertainment’ because we wanted to leave a legacy for our kids,” she told The Christian Post. “We want to contribute something to culture that’s truthful but is grounded in hope, the hope that we have through our faith, that God is in control, and that all things work to the good of those who love the Lord. We know that’s true. That doesn’t mean you create content that’s sugar-coated…but we’re about bringing truth into the world and ultimately bringing hope into the world.”
Heaton is still an in-demand actress but don’t expect to see her in any revivals of her hit shows any time soon.
“You don’t wanna mess with perfection,” she told Yahoo!Entertainment when asked about rebooting EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND or THE MIDDLE. “It’s like a great work of art — you don’t need to go in there and touch it up or change it or do anything to it. Just let it be what it is. And the wonderful thing about TV and about streaming [is] you’ll be able to enjoy it as much as you want.”
Heaton has experienced plenty of success as an actress, but when times get hard, the actress knows to lean on her relationship with God.
