Sesame Street for Military Families (SS4MF) released “Healthy, Happy, Ready,” a new resource aimed at helping military families eat healthy and stay active.
“‘Healthy, Happy, Ready’ is another addition to SS4MF, which is in its 19th year. Our goal is to listen to the needs of military families and their young children as they engage in various transitions of military life,” said Jeanette Betancourt, Ed.D., Sesame Workshop’s Senior VP of U.S. Social Impact.
The goal of the “Healthy, Happy, Ready” resource is to help military families eat healthy, stay active and find emotional well-being. These resources are created with recognizable SESAME STREET characters, like Elmo, to make them something kids are excited to engage with. For example, one part of the resource is a video that features Elmo and his dad as they help him prepare for an upcoming fitness exam.

“In this video, we see how Elmo and his family make physical fitness a regular part of their family’s well-being. When Elmo’s dad, Louie, needs to do some extra training for an upcoming physical fitness test, they all pitch in to help him,” a description of the video reads. “Together, they find ways to support their family ‘team,’ such as making healthy snacks and adding extra challenge and cheer to an exercise routine.”
“Healthy, Happy, Ready” joins an extensive list of resources for military families including articles and videos about deployment, relocation, military homecomings, everyday wellness and help and healing.
Beyond serving military families, SESAME STREET is set to undergo massive changes through next year that will make it more accessible for everyone. It has already found a home for new episodes on Netflix, making it accessible for families subscribed to the streamer but not cable. Meanwhile, hundreds of older episodes will arrive on YouTube starting January of 2026, allowing even more families to enjoy the show.
“Today, more families than ever before gather around the TV screen to watch YouTube. That’s why we’re excited to announce an expanded partnership with SESAME STREET to bring more of their beloved content to families who are tuning in…” YouTube said in a statement. “Beginning in January of 2026, YouTube will have the largest digital library of SESAME STREET content, with hundreds of full episodes coming to the platform. Alongside this collection of episodes, SESAME STREET will continue to post content created especially for the YouTube audiences, all featuring the iconic and lovable Muppets of SESAME STREET.”
It is amazing how SESAME STREET continues to serve the families of America through high-quality entertainment that also serves as a place for kids to learn important life lessons. Even more impressive is the way the show serves military families specifically and helps kids understand the sacrifices their parents make to protect their country.
