GAF actress Danica McKellar just shared her gratitude-focused nighttime routine.

“I do not bring my phone into bed when I go to bed at night,” she said in a recent Instagram video. “Sometimes I look at it in the morning in bed but never at night. I crawl into bed, and I just thank God so much for the day. I thank Him for all the things, whether it’s good things or things that seem like they weren’t so good because I don’t know what the full picture is yet.”

McKellar continued. “When you do that, it is amazing how quickly you start to see how the things you didn’t think were good are good. It’s incredible.”

“When you…practice that belief, you see it. God shows you faster. I think that’s the reward for having that attitude,” she concluded.

While many remember McKellar from her early days on THE WONDER YEARS, the actress recently spoke about why she felt the need to step back from Hollywood following the show’s end.

“I needed to figure out who else I was besides Winnie Cooper,” she explained, referring to her character, during an episode of HEY DUDE…THE 90S CALLED.

McKellar headed to UCLA, where she soon discovered a love and aptitude for math.

“It was just me. It had nothing to do with the superficiality of Hollywood or all the great writers and the sound design and all the things they did to make Winnie Cooper [into] Winnie Cooper. This is just me and my brain who did this,” she explained.

McKellar didn’t end up pursuing math professionally but has written many math books geared towards children and teens.

“The math books have kept me sane for the last twenty years because it’s something that I can do something about,” she shared. “Like, I can actually write a book and then have it published and then help kids with math and then make some money from that. It’s a thing that I can do that’s not like the business.”

McKellar eventually returned to acting, starring in many popular Christmas movies. This year is no exception; she and Jesse Hutch were just announced as the co-leads in GAF’s HAVE WE MET THIS CHRISTMAS?

“One of the cornerstones of Great American Christmas is celebrating the legacy of family talent in our Christmas movies,” Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, said in a statement. “Our viewers love seeing beloved stars, like Danica McKellar and Jesse Hutch, who share the screen across generations and bring our heartfelt stories to life. It is a tradition that makes Great American Christmas feel like coming home for the holidays.”

McKellar’s bedtime routine is a good way for anyone to wind down and remind themselves of the good things in their life.
