While speaking with Vogue for the cover of the December issue, DUNE star Timothée Chalamet revealed that he would love to be a father one day.

Chalamet remembered an interview he watched where someone was “bragging about not having kids and how much time it afforded them to do other stuff.”

He described the experience as, “Bleak,” and instead shared that he ultimately wanted to become a great family man.

He pointed to DUNE director Denis Villeneuve, whom he describes as a “total master of his craft and a great family man,” as an example of someone who balances fatherhood and fame well.

“You don’t have to be selfish to be great, no. And I know, because I’ve worked with directors who are incredible and who are incredibly present in their family life. Even Denis, whom I’m working with right now. I’m just amazed by him. It was his birthday two days ago, and one of his kids flew themselves out as a surprise, and he’s hugging him, and he’s weeping on set, and people are taking videos,” Chalamet said.

The WONKA star acknowledged that not everyone can have children or in a position to care for them, but, according to vogue, “does believe procreation is the reason we’re here.”

“That could be on the radar,” Chalamet said in response to having kids.

Other young stars want to prioritize family, too.

Is it “bleak” to brag about not having children?

EUPHORIA’s Sydney Sweeney said in 2023 that she “always thought I’d have a kid by now.”

“I always wanted to be a young mom,” she added. “I love acting, I love the business, I love producing, I love all of it. But what’s the point if I’m not getting to share it with a family?”

“The time will come, and I’ll have four kids,” the star continued. “And they will come with me everywhere and be my best friends.”

STRANGER THINGS star Millie Bobby Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi welcomed their first child, a daughter, via adoption over the summer after openly talking about their desire to have a big family.

“We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” the couple wrote in their announcement Instagram post in August.

“It’s been a beautiful, amazing journey — she’s taught us so much already,” Brown said earlier this month of their daughter. “Perspective is a huge thing. The smaller things in life are so much more precious. Our days are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter and love. It’s just endless joy.”

While many in Hollywood have rejected parenthood for the sake of fame, it’s encouraging to see young stars pursue family and hope to raise children of their own some day.
