In another post, host Jennifer Vickery Smith wrote, “He’s MORE than able… keep saying YES when He opens the door- He’s got big plans for you!!”
GOT IT FROM MY MOMMA is a majorly popular podcast, featuring interviews with “the moms of your favorite entertainers and entertaining moms!,” per the show’s website.
“In each episode, our guests share stories from an artist’s childhood and the journey to stardom from the perspective only a momma can share!” the description continued. “Heartwarming and never-before-heard stories about family, faith, and fame fill the engaging episodes, appealing to fans of the stars and listeners who love good stories and great advice!”
In addition to over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry as an on-camera reporter, anchor, producer, and print journalist, Smith is also the mother of Conner Smith, an up-and-coming country artist.
Conner’s burgeoning career as a country star was what inspired Smith to start her podcast. After he performed for the first time at the Grand Ole Opry, Smith told WKRN, “We [were] celebrating with friends and family and we’re all talking and I brought up how, what it’s been like through the years for moms to watch their kids take these steps of fulfilling their dreams.”
“I wanted to kind of dig deeper and find out more about the impact of fame on a family, how moms support their kids’ dreams, and the role of faith as you rely on your faith through the entire journey,” she continued.
Smith even got Conner’s stamp of approval; following the release of the first episode, he texted her, “I am so proud of you and I think that these stories are really going to encourage people in that they humanize the artist in a way that other interviews can’t do. I’m really proud of you, go for it.”
“What I know is that the Lord gives us more than we can ask or imagine, and this is a project that I feel like he placed on my heart,” she concluded.
Fans of the GOT IT FROM MY MOMMA podcast can’t wait to see the show make its TV debut!
