A new faith-based TV series just landed on YouTube.
THE PROMISED LAND, “a comedy of biblical proportions,” launched on YouTube three weeks ago and has already surpassed “3.5 million views and 36 million social impressions,” according to a press release from Monique Sondag of Dovetail Solutions.

Writer and Director Mitch Hudson, as well as producer Richie Johns, created THE PROMISED LAND with a goal “to show that these biblical characters were just like us.”
“Sure, they had bread falling from heaven and water spouting from a rock. And, yes, they followed pillars of cloud and fire through the desert…But, they were also ordinary people who tried their best, made mistakes, and learned how to live in peace. Well, eventually,” a synopsis of the show reads.
“In some ways, Season One isn’t our proof of concept, it’s our ‘proof of audience’” Johns said of the show in the press release. “We wanted to show that a faith-based comedy could actually work, and that there is a real, engaged audience for it. Our viewers are smart and clever, and they deserve content that reflects that. If we are not raising the bar, we are wasting their time and ours. The Promised Land is showing what is possible when you trust your audience to meet you there.”
Through the use of YouTube, THE PROMISED LAND has gained viewers of all ages and has proven that the world is seeking “relatable, story-driven content that bridges sacred and secular audiences alike.”
“Our audience is already on YouTube,” Johns explained. “Eighty percent of our viewers are between 18 and 44. It is a chance to show that faith-inspired storytelling can hold its own in the same digital arena as mainstream entertainment when the quality, humor, and craft match what audiences already love to watch. This strategy reflects the ever-evolving viewing habits. And, it’s working.”
Hudson also stated, “We are not making fun of the Bible. We went to great lengths to honor the heart of the story and the faith of the people in it. The humor comes from the human experience; those awkward, challenging, faithful, and hilarious moments that make us who we are. Our approach has always been reverent toward Scripture, but down-to-earth about the people. THE PROMISED LAND is not laughing at faith. It is laughing with humanity.”
The newest YouTube faith-based comedy series, THE PROMISED LAND, has already gained over 3.5 million views. Hudson and Johns want viewers to understand that the people in the Bible were human, just like us.
