Christian music’s popularity continues to grow, and worship artist Tasha Layton thinks she knows why.
“I think — never before have I felt such a seriousness about spirituality,” Layton told Fox News Digital. “You know, there’s always a group of folks at my events that, you know, are searching and, you know, want to deepen their own spirituality. But I feel a seriousness right now across the country that I don’t think I’ve ever felt in my lifetime.”
Fox News reported that in 2023, Christian music accounted for 1.7% on the global music charts. Today, it’s at 2.0%.
Layton also pointed to social media as part of the reason for the genre’s success.
“I think, because we live in such a digital age, you know, I think there are ways that a song can go viral without going through the traditional channels,” she said. “And then I think Christian music labels are doing a fantastic job of releasing music quickly, and they hit the algorithm, algorithms on the music platforms.”
Earlier this year, the Christian Post reported that Brandon Lake’s “Hard Fought Hallelujah” held a spot on the Billboard Top 100 for 19 weeks, while Forrest Frank’s “You Way is Better” positioned itself on the same chart for 10 weeks because of its viral TikTok success.

“And so I think you’ve also seen, you know, such an upsurge in cross-genre momentum with Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll and so many collaborations. And I think it really is causing the world to take notice,” Layton added.
Layton’s newest album, Life in Me, debuted on Oct. 10 and features some of the biggest names in Christian music: Chris Brown (Elevation Worship), Colton Dixon, Matthew West and more.
“Each track really represents a season from my walk with Jesus. The album is a beautiful picture of His life in me,” Layton told K-Love of the album.
She added on Instagram, “These songs tell the story of God’s faithfulness through every season, and I can’t wait for you to experience them.”
The album includes Layton’s hit song, “Worship Though It,” featuring Chris Brown.
The lyrics to the song read:
I know my God can do it
So, I’m gonna worship through it
Before I see my breakthrough
I’m gonna choose to praise YouI will sing hallelujah to the one
Who can do what the world says can’t be done
I know my God can do it
So, I’m gonna worship through it
It’s no secret that Christian music is on the rise. Layton knows that — with the help of the Holy Spirit — God is using social media and those willing to surrender their talents to draw even more people to Him.
