Vanessa Benavente gushed about THE CHOSEN’s latest amazing accomplishment — being the most translated show in the history of the world.

“I’m Hispanic, so I know what it feels like to be waiting for a show or for a movie to be translated so you can watch it,” the actress, who plays Mother Mary, told Movieguide® recently.

She experienced times where there were sometimes subtitles available, but one of her grandparents or nieces still wouldn’t be able to see the screen and understand. So she understands how important translation is.

THE CHOSEN has been translated into 600 languages. The Guinness Book of World Records awarded the show for being the most translated show ever, Come and See reported.

Season 5 introduced 50 new languages.

“We are so pleased the moment millions have been waiting for is finally here – Season 5 of THE CHOSEN is now accessible and free to all, no matter where they are in the world,” said James Barnett, CEO of Come and See. “We were thrilled to see people engage with THE CHOSEN in theaters, but there is something incredibly powerful about knowing this story and experience are now truly free to the world with this release on the app.”

But 600 languages isn’t enough for THE CHOSEN.

“We still have a lot of room to go, and the best way to be able to do that is through the translation efforts that we’re working on,” said Mike Kennedy, vice president of marketing at The Come and See Foundation. “We’re looking forward toward Season 6 and Season 7. There’s still a lot of work that needs to be done.”

Benavente hopes that viewers are inspired by Mary’s strength, faith and love in Season 5.

“There’s just no way she could’ve done this without having this, having this enormous, enormous faith in her son and in her God,” she told Movieguide®. “It’s, it’s just, you know, going through all this, and deciding to be by his side, even to the very end… having her life be at peril, because that’s the way things were back then. If you were associated with any of these people that were crucified, you were in danger of being arrested.”

Benevente highlighted how Mary and other women were a part of Jesus’ ministry and particularly his last days.

Mary learns of Jesus’ crucifixion in Season 5. Benavente says Mary draws strength from within. Even though something terrible will happen, she knows she has to be strong.

“I mean, she really is trying to be there for him and trying to be supportive and trying to make the most of their time together and don’t have him worry too much about her,” she explained. “She’ll be fine, but she knows she won’t be fine.”

THE CHOSEN Season 5 is currently available on Prime Video and The Chosen App.
