GREY’S ANATOMY star Sarah Drew is secure in the knowledge that she’s exactly where she’s meant to be.
“There’s never a moment when I don’t know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I’m beloved by the creator of the universe and that my life is purposeful,” the actress said during a recent appearance on Jennie Garth’s “I Choose Me” podcast.

Drew has often spoken about how her Christian faith impacts her life and, more specifically, her career.
“I think in the media, Christians are the butt of every joke,” she told FOX411, adding that, when she joined the cast of GREY’S ANATOMY as Dr. April Kepner, showrunner Shonda Rhimes “came to me and said you know a lot about this and to tell [April’s] story authentically, we need your input.’”
Drew added, “April’s human and she’s going to make mistakes and fail, but I want to be very clear that I’m not trying to get on a soapbox and tell people how to behave.”
“The reason I love Jesus is because He’s a really good guy,” she continued. “He’s completely opposed to running around and judging people. I want to be able to show someone who thinks deeply and cares for people and actually tries to live out who Jesus is. That’s what I try to do in my daily life.”
The actress also spoke about how she relies on her faith to keep her from comparing her success to others’.
“I ask God to remind me what I’m doing here on this planet,” Drew said. “For Him to take the chains off and remind me that my identity is not based on how many awards I win or positive reviews I receive. I’m already made as a masterpiece by the Creator of the universe. That is my hardest thing and I think that anybody would find that struggle in any profession.”
She concluded, “Before I can remember, beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is my dream. And this is what I had been gifted with by God to do.”
As she’s grown in this industry, Drew has found her voice not only as an actress but as a writer and producer as well.
“For me, once I hit 40, my creative life took off in a new way,” she told HELLO! It was then that I started writing my own stuff – and I’ve now written and produced three movies…I’m no longer shy about asking to dive in as an executive producer, and participate and use my voice, and I have so much more confidence than I ever did in my twenties or 30s.”
Throughout all the ups and downs, Drew is confident that she is living out God’s plan for her life.
