At the Trump Kennedy Center, veterans and active duty service members turned their war stories into music for a memorable show called “From Military to Music.”
“These are veteran independent artists, and it was an honor to have them perform for a full house at the Trump Kennedy Center,” Roma Daravi, vice president of communications for the Trump Kennedy Center, said in an interview with Fox News Digital. “Supporting our veterans is especially important coming off the Memorial Day weekend as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.”
The performers included Brooks Herring, Brennan Clements, Jackson Perkins and Torv, who sang songs about “combat, trauma and healing.” Fox News reported that the venue was “packed” as audience members experienced an “intimate performance” which “blended live music with personal reflections on military service, loss, resilience and recovery.”

Creativets, a nonprofit organization focused on “empowering wounded veterans to heal through music and the arts,” helped put the event on.
“WHAT AN HONOR: To get the opportunity to represent @creativets at @thetrumpkennedycenter in Washington DC this week. A great time getting to play with @jacksonperkins @brennan_clements_ and @brooksherringmusic you guys are absolutely pros and it was an honor to share the stage with you,” Torv shared in a post on Instagram.
Art unites in a way few other things can.
“Art remains essential to the fabric of our nation, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” Daravi told Fox News Digital. “We are proud to honor its role in our 250-year history through veteran shows here at America’s cultural center.”
Creativets echoed that same sentiment in a post on social media.
“For many veterans, art becomes more than just creativity — it becomes a way to process experiences that are difficult to put into words,” the organization wrote. “Through music, painting, writing, photography and other forms of creative expression, veterans are able to release emotions, reflect on their experiences, and reconnect with themselves in a healthy and meaningful way.”
“Art creates space for healing. It allows veterans to tell their stories at their own pace while building connection, purpose, and community along the way. When we support veteran artists and programs that encourage creative expression, we help ensure those voices are seen, heard, and remembered,” the post continued.
It’s powerful to see veterans turn their struggles into something beautiful that others can lean on.
