Ever wondered what a conversation between Jesus and Ronald Reagan might sound like?
“This is a funny moment from a while back with Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus in THE CHOSEN, and Dennis Quaid, who portrayed Ronald Reagan in the film REAGAN,” Pastor Greg Laurie captioned a Facebook post. “I asked them, in character, a simple question: What if Jesus and Ronald Reagan were to have a conversation. This was the result. Enjoy!”
In the video, Quaid asks Roumie, “I was wondering if you could help me out with the Contras down in Central America. You know, nothing physical or anything like that.”
“You’re asking for a lot,” Roumie jokes. “You want a few little things to switch around, just to make it easier for you?”
Quaid replies, “Yes, and if you could talk to the Russians, I’d appreciate it, too.”
“Let me see what I can do,” Roumie says, then the two actors share a laugh.

Roumie previously spoke about what it has been like to portray Jesus on THE CHOSEN for so many years.
“My faith has been an integral part in my preparation for the role,” he told Life Teen. “In order to honestly portray any character you have to start with personal truth and really define what that is for you, especially regarding certain traits in a character.”
Roumie continued, “I read a lot, I prayed a lot, and when I had the opportunity to go to Mass, even while I was on location, in between filming days, I would try to go to Mass and go to Confession and receive the Eucharist as often as I could because it just helped me draw closer to Christ and bring more of His humanity and His heart to my consciousness which I would then utilize as best I could in the role in the scenes.”
Quaid has also talked about his process when it came to bringing the former President to the big screen.
“He was my favorite president,” he told TODAY. “I didn’t want to do an impersonation. I wanted to get to the human being behind the public persona.”
Quaid spent two years preparing for the role, joking that his “poor kids and my wife lived with Ronald Reagan at different times of his life for a couple of years.”
Both Quaid and Roumie know a thing or two about what it’s like to take on the role of such an important historical figure.
