Legendary actor Clint Eastwood is now 96 years old. Is he planning to retire?

The rumors about Eastwood’s retirement began when one of his sons, Kyle Eastwood, told a French news outlet, “I have many fond memories of working with him. Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old. But I was very lucky to be able to work with him on quite a few films. It was a great experience for me.”

The actor’s other son, Scott, set the record straight in an interview with ScreenRant.

“We’ll see,” Scott responded when asked about his dad’s retirement plans. “I have not heard that from his mouth at all. So, I don’t know what that feels like. His career in general has been something to admire, something to be inspired by, and continues to inspire me. The work, the artistry that he’s done on and off screen. Producing, writing, composing, directing, acting. The body of work is incredible.”

While Eastwood’s career remains uncertain, his work in the industry is legendary.

“What your dad has done for all of us, and I’m not talking just about directors, but has shown what we are capable of doing as human beings into a very late age,” director Rod Lurie, who worked with Scott on LUCKY STRIKE, said of Eastwood.

“And when I look at people like Clint Eastwood or some other directors, we’re amazed when they directed into their 80s, it makes you just want to continue to accomplish. JUROR NO. 6, his last movie, is pretty masterful, especially for somebody of that age,” the director continued. “And it’s really just something to behold. Your dad should be on the Mount Rushmore of Hollywood.”

Eastwood’s acting career began in the 1960s with roles in the spaghetti western MAN WITH NO NAME trilogy. His IMDB profile lists 73 acting credits to his career, along with 45 titles as director.

“There’s no reason why a man can’t get better with age,” Eastwood said in 2024 of his future. “Sure, there are directors who lose their touch at a certain age, but I’m not one of them.”

Eastwood turned 96 on May 31, and his fans celebrated on Instagram

“Happy Birthday Clint 🎂🥂🎉❤️👏👏👏.I hope you have a great time on your special day ❤️. 96 trips around the sun 🌞” one person said. Another wrote, “🎂🎉🥳 HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. EASTWOOD.”
