JESUS REVOLUTION

Quality:
****
Content:
-1 Caution advised for older children, including teenagers, and sensitive adults.
JESUS REVOLUTION is a very entertaining and accurate, though compressed, portrait of the Vietnam protest era of hippies and young revolutionaries who find Jesus because God calls several people to welcome them into the Body of Christ. At its heart, the plot is propelled by a love story between an impoverished young man, Greg Laurie, with an alcoholic mother, and a beautiful young woman named Cathe, from a wealthy Laguna Hills family in Southern California. JESUS REVOLUTION is very bold about showing drug use, communal living, protest rallies, and Christian hypocrisy, but it also has many scenes of intense jeopardy and many scenes featuring inspiring, uplifting, well-written Christian presentations and expressions of the Gospel.

NEW LIFE

NEW LIFE is a well-orchestrated movie about a deep and caring love story featuring a boy from England and an American girl. NEW LIFE has some poignant moments, funny moments, romantic moments, and heartrending moments, with a strong Christian worldview, but there are some adult issues during the romantic couple’s marriage, so caution is advised for older children.

INDIVISIBLE

INDIVISIBLE is based on a true story about an army chaplain and his family, who must overcome personal and spiritual obstacles when the chaplain goes to war for the first time in Iraq, during the “surge” in 2007. INDIVISIBLE is a high-quality, God-honoring, emotional ride, which promotes a deep dedication to Christian faith and realistic Christian support for military families.

THE CASE FOR CHRIST

Quality:
****
Content:
+2 Moderately questionable elements.
THE CASE FOR CHRIST is the inside story of how Chicago Tribune journalist Lee Strobel set out to disprove Christianity when his wife, Leslie, became a Christian and challenged Lee’s atheist beliefs. THE CASE FOR CHRIST is a terrific drama reminiscent of ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN, with its own examples of excellent acting. It also brilliantly lays out the facts confirming Jesus Christ’s resurrection, but does contain some tense moments and alcohol use requiring caution for younger children.

RUN THE RACE

Quality:
****
Content:
+1 Moderately questionable elements. (Discernment required for young children.)
RUN THE RACE is a classic underdog story about two teenage brothers who must put their trust on God and turn their hardships into victories after their dreams are dashed by a sudden accidental injury. RUN THE RACE is a terrific tale of family, forgiveness, reconciliation, and redemption told in the arena of small-town sports, with a strong Christian worldview.

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE

Quality:
****
Content:
+2 Moderately questionable elements.
I CAN ONLY IMAGINE is about the story behind the most-played Christian contemporary song of all time, “I Can Only Imagine” by the band MercyMe, which involves overcoming an estranged relationship between a father and son. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE is a powerful, tear-jerker story of redemption and reconciliation through Jesus Christ with only a light caution for younger children.

GOD'S NOT DEAD

+4 Biblical, usually Christian, worldview, with no questionable elements whatsoever.
GOD’S NOT DEAD is an entertaining, profound, powerful Christian movie about a college student who has to stand up for his faith when bullied by an atheist professor. Despite some of the smartest dialogue ever, GOD’S NOT DEAD entertains viewers as well as enlightens and inspires them. The ending is terrific.

FIREPROOF

FIREPROOF is an incredibly gripping, compelling, heartrending, transformational story about saving a marriage between a small-town fire chief and his working wife that is on the rocks. Impeccably plotted, it is a stirring presentation of the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the power of God’s amazing grace.

OCTOBER BABY

Quality:
****
Content:
+4 Biblical, usually Christian, worldview, with no questionable elements whatsoever.
In OCTOBER BABY, a teenage girl who learns she was born from a botched abortion must find the love of Jesus Christ to heal the pain she feels. Once the script comes together, OCTOBER BABY becomes incredibly compelling and shows that forgiveness can only be found in Jesus Christ.

THE HEART OF MAN

Quality:
****
Content:
-2 Extreme caution for older teenagers and adults.
THE HEART OF MAN is a Christian documentary describing how eight men and women discovered God’s unconditional love is the only way out of a lifetime of sexual brokenness. Their stories, told against the backdrop of an artistic and allegorical depiction of the Prodigal Son parable, shot in Hawaii, illustrate how suffering people learn that God’s love is their deliverance and their reward at the same time.
