49ers Saftey Declares ‘It’s Just God’ After NFC Championship Win

San Francisco 49ers safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. gave God the glory after playing a crucial role in Sunday’s win over the Detroit Lions.

In the second half, he forced a turnover that helped his team to a 34-31 victory over the Lions.

Per Sports Spectrum, “The 49ers had just cut their deficit to seven on a six-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy to Brandon Aiyuk. Then, on the first play of the following Detroit possession, a hard-charging Gipson stuffed an inside run and forced a fumble, which San Francisco recovered at Detroit’s 24-yard line.”

Gipson is now headed to his first Super Bowl.

“This is just God. Honestly, it’s just God. Without Him, this wouldn’t be possible,” Gipson said after the game. “It’s a surreal feeling; my body is numb right now…I’m so thankful.”

Gipson shared, “SUPER BOWL bound. NFC CHAMPS ❗️.Glory to GOD without you this isn’t possible. Blessed to be apart of something so special. #FTTB 1 more to go!”

A year ago, Gipson didn’t have a team and began to prepare for life outside the NFL. However, after the 49ers called, he thanked God that he could return to the game.

“Honestly, I would like to sit here and say I had the utmost confidence in myself and my game,” Gipson told the San Francisco Chronicle last year. “But to say that I would end up on this team, being able to play my style of football and to be able to be a contributor on this defense, the best defense in the National Football League?

“It’s hard for me to sit there and tell you that with a straight face. It’s something that I just couldn’t script,” he continued.

“They saw something in me that 31 other teams didn’t,” he concluded. “And praise God because this has been the most fun I’ve had in the league. It took me 11 years to get to this point, but hey man, I’m blessed.”

Tune in to CBS or Paramount+ to watch Gipson and the 49ers face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII.

Movieguide® previously reported on 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy:

The San Francisco 49ers are headed to Super Bowl LVIII.

Quarterback Brock Purdy gave God the glory for the opportunity after his team overcame a 17-point deficit to take a 34-31 win over the Detroit Lions.

“First of all, glory to God. He’s given us this opportunity,” he said. “For us, it’s a team sport. We knew we had a half left. Defense did their job, the boys on offense took care of business. Coaches called a great game. And we had the faithful behind us the whole way. So, we love you guys.”
