Actor Hunter Clowdus, known for his role as JJ in the hit series ALL-AMERICAN, announced earlier this month that he’s leaving the entertainment industry to enlist in the Army.
“I am now proudly enlisted to serve you and this country in the United States Army. I will be active duty as an 11B infantryman with an option 40 Ranger contract,” Clowdus posted on Instagram. “I was thinking what is the most honorable, physically, and mentally challenging thing a man can do that requires unmatched grit, heart, faith, determination, discipline, and a relentless effort to continue the mission… and I landed on becoming an Army Ranger.
“I’m proud to say I scored in the top 6% with a 94/99 on the ASVAB and a 131 GT score,” he continued. “This opened up a lot of opportunities in regards to jobs within the military. But my heart was set on infantry. It’s why I joined. It’s what I want to learn the skillset of how to do.
“My life has been filled with amazing opportunities and I owe them all to God, my family, my friends, and my fearlessness,” the actor concluded. “I have been training for this moment long before I knew its name. My heart is full, my eyes are clear, and I’m eagerly awaiting the pain and sacrifice I will undoubtedly have to endure. One life. Live it. Love you all. It’s an honor to do this.”
Many of Clowdus’ fans commented on the post and thanked him for his bravery.
“This is amazing! Thank you for dedicating part of your life in protecting us and our country! Hooah,” one person wrote.
“Best of luck to you. It takes incredible strength and bravery. Thank you for your service,” another said.

“Joining a mentorship program is not just a choice; it is a commitment to your own evolution—a conscious decision to become the champion of your narrative. My mission is to ensure you become who you were meant to be,” Clowdus explains on his website.
He often posts motivational content on his Instagram, and a few posts occasionally give fans a glimpse of what really drives him — his faith.
“By His grace I have been set free. May my actions always be fearless to show my trust in Him and my gratitude to those who have helped and believed in me along the way,” Clowdus posted on Dec. 4.
