AMERICAN IDOL Champ ‘Grateful’ to God After Challenging Year

Former AMERICAN IDOL winner Samantha “Just Sam” Diaz is showing gratitude to God after a year of ups and downs.
“Ended 2024 in church where my voice belongs – Singing for the lord,” the artist posted on Instagram. “Grateful for this voice that God has blessed me with and im grateful that no matter what life throws at me, God gets me through it. Sickness, depression and any evil of this earth stands no chance against the Goodness of God .!”
In an Instagram story posted earlier this month, Diaz wrote, “It doesn’t matter what I’m going through or what my situation looks like. I will always trust that God is working things out for my good. People have lied and let me down time and time again, but God will never fail me.”
The singer has been open with fans about their physical and mental struggles, including PTSD.
In 2024, Diaz posted another Instagram story, telling fans, “I just spent the last two days in and out of the hospital and let me just say … I was very taken care of and I’m feeling ok now, but now I have to take it easy. I’m ok, but pray for me and better health”
Diaz recently returned to AMERICAN IDOL, performing Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time” in a 2024 episode.
The singer recently signed with a new agent at CrowdMGMT, and plans to get to work on new music.
“Everybody’s waiting to see that big blowup moment again like IDOL,” Diaz told The Washington Post. “I think it’s going to be something greater than IDOL — no shade, I love them. But I think that wasn’t the end.”
Diaz, who won AMERICAN IDOL in 2020, won viewers over with their talent, as well as their commitment to faith; the singer even led the judges in prayer after their audition.
