Actress Nicole Scherzinger shared her faith on the Tonys stage this year, thanking God as she accepted the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.

“First of all, I just have to thank God for carrying me every step of the way. I give You all the glory,” Scherzinger said during her acceptance speech.

The actress and former pop star is currently starring as Norma Desmond in Broadway’s SUNSET BLVD.

Scherzinger thanked her mother who “gave everything up for me,” as well as her dad and sister, “who instilled in me an unshakable faith.”

She also praised the show’s director, Jamie Lloyd, saying, “You’ve changed my life forever. Growing up, I always felt like I didn’t belong, but you all have made me feel like I belong and I have come home at last!”

“So, if anyone out there who feels like they don’t belong, well, your time hasn’t come,” Scherzinger concluded. “Don’t give up. Just keep on giving and giving because the world needs your love and your light more than ever. This is a testament that love always wins. Thank you so much.”

In a 2023 Instagram post, she wrote about how her role in SUNSET BLVD was part of God’s plan for her life.

“I believe God has a plan for all of us — a plan and a purpose. I believe you just have to listen to the whispers of your heart and trust Him,” Scherzinger wrote. “I see now that this show, and telling Norma’s story, was God’s divine plan for me all along. There was a purpose behind all the patience, pain, and pushbacks that have been scattered amongst the beauty of my life so far.”

She continued, “It’s funny how God brings you back to your roots and the initial desire He placed on your heart. Theater was where everything started for me.”

Scherzinger also spoke about the importance of her faith in an interview with Woman Alive, saying,  “For me, I am very spiritual, so I like to say that God has bigger plans, and a bigger imagination than we could ever [have].”

Scherzinger added that her faith keeps her “super grounded” as she navigates the ups and downs of fame.

Viewers around the world were excited to see Scherzinger use her time on the Tonys stage to give gratitude to God and share her faith.
