The cast of BOSTON BLUE is beginning to take shape as Gloria Reuben has been cast to play Mae Silver, Boston’s district attorney.
“The widow of a judge who was murdered on the courthouse steps, Mae is the matriarch of a blended family of law enforcement professionals: her daughter Lena (Soneque Martin-Green) is a Boston Police Department detective, and her stepdaughter Sarah (Maggie Lawson) is the police superintendent. Her son Jonah is a rookie cop. Mae is accustomed to making decisions and standing by them,” a description of her character reads.
Martin-Green and Lawson’s addition to the cast were both announced in the past month along with Ernie Hudson, adding to the already confirmed Donnie Wahlberg, who will reprise his role as Danny Reagan.
“We love the Reagans. We have all loved the Reagans for so long,” Martin-Green said after joining the show. “And I feel that we’ll love the Peters too. I’m super excited for this partnership, and to be back in a CBS family – and in this family, your family. It means a lot, and I’m grateful for it. I think we’re going to have a good time.”

CBS first announced it was considering continuing the BLUE BLOODS franchise in summer of 2024, and the studio officially announced BOSTON BLUE at the beginning of 2025. The series will see Danny Reagan move to Boston to continue his career, surrounded by a slew of new faces.
Many fans, however, are more excited about what the show means for other characters from the BLUE BLOODS universe, such as the potential for Tom Selleck’s Frank Reagan to make an appearance. Insiders have hinted that Wahlberg is pushing for his reprisal, though nothing has been confirmed.
“Donnie is an old-school local guy, he’s going to fight for Tom to get a piece of the action,” the insider said. “He and Tom are still very close, they talk all the time and Donnie is well aware that Tom was not happy about BLUE BLOODS getting canceled. Tom isn’t leaning on him or demanding anything of him, he’s got a movie in the works and is way too proud to beg. But Donnie wants to do this for him, not only because it’s the right thing to do, but also because he loves working with Tom.”
BOSTON BLUE is set to join CBS’s fall lineup, taking on the Friday at 10:00 p.m. time slot that BLUE BLOODS previously held.
