Country and Christian music star Anne Wilson is detailing the making of her hit song “My Jesus.”
“I never expected ‘My Jesus’ to do what it has done,” the 22-year-old began in a video posted to her YouTube channel. “I remember writing that song with Matthew [West] and Jeff [Pardo] and feeling like it was such a special song, but I had no idea the impact it was going to have on so many people’s lives. And then when I found out it had gone platinum… I think it was a moment for me of realizing like the power of music and how it can change, you know, so many people’s lives.”
Wilson shared that special moment on Instagram last year. “My Jesus” was written in honor of her brother who passed away unexpectedly.
“’My Jesus’ is now certified platinum and my incredible team at @capitolcmg threw me the sweetest surprise party to celebrate!” she posted. “What a moment for the Lord, my sweet brother Jacob, my family, the writers and producers, and ALL who have walked this unexpected adventure. To see what God has done out of the deepest pain is such a precious gift that He has given to all of us. GOD NEVER wastes our sorrows. He uses them in ways we cannot dream of. I can’t wait to hug my brother again and talk about all the things God has done. Jacob must be beaming in heaven right now sitting with My Jesus. 🤍”
Wilson also shared the inspiration behind her album, Rebel.
“The idea of Rebel was born years ago when I just found that title somewhere… I’ll find a title and then I’ll take it into a room and we’ll kind of flesh out the idea,” she explained. “It really started out as looking at scripture. I had been studying scripture on how Jesus was a rebel, how he went against the crowd, how he did things that the Pharisees didn’t really agree with. They were these religious people who knew the Bible front and back, but yet he was going against all that, you know? In a really rebel way, He would go hang out with the least of these and would go love on these people who nobody else would ever pay attention to. And so that was like a little bit of the inspiration behind it.”
She just dropped her latest song, “Stand,” today.
“We all got a choice in life. You can run, you can hide, you can fall for the lies or STAND,” she posted. “My new song ‘Stand’ will be yours THIS FRIDAY, 9/13. Can’t wait for you to hear it 🇺🇸🤍”
Matthew West released “Last Page of the Bible” featuring Anne Wilson on Friday, and it’s an impactful reminder about why you’ve got to hold on to hope.
“This song is inspired by the late Billy Graham who famously said, ‘I’ve read the last page of the Bible and it all works out in the end.’ 🙏” West shared in an Instagram clip on Friday.
“’Last Page of the Bible’ was an idea that I actually brought in to the great Anne Wilson…It feels like rock and roll,” he said…
West wrote “Last Page of The Bible” with Wilson and Jeff Pardo.
Wilson said, “I love the heart behind it. The world that we’re living in today is such a dark and painful place, and there’s so much going on. This song is a reminder that Jesus is coming back, and one day, there will be no more crying, no more tears, no more suffering.”
