This Matthew West-Anne Wilson Mash-Up Will Leave You Hopeful
By Movieguide® Contributor
Matthew West released “Last Page of the Bible” featuring Anne Wilson on Friday, and it’s an impactful reminder about why you’ve got to hold on to hope.
“This song is inspired by the late Billy Graham who famously said, ‘I’ve read the last page of the Bible and it all works out in the end.’ 🙏” West shared in an Instagram clip on Friday.
“’Last Page of the Bible’ was an idea that I actually brought in to the great Anne Wilson…It feels like rock and roll,” he said.
Some of the lyrics read:
Troubled world
Spinning out of control
Just when you think it can’t get worse
It does
Feels like more than I can take
Like this heart was just born to break
But no matter what there ain’t no way
I’m giving up
No
‘Cause I’ve read the last page of the Bible
I know how the story ends
Remember this
My Jesus is
Coming back again
West wrote “Last Page of The Bible” with Wilson and Jeff Pardo.
Wilson said, “I love the heart behind it. The world that we’re living in today is such a dark and painful place, and there’s so much going on. This song is a reminder that Jesus is coming back, and one day, there will be no more crying, no more tears, no more suffering.”
She continued, “There will be perfect peace and perfect joy. This was such a fun song to get to create, thank you Matthew for having me be a part of it. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it!”
The song is one of the tracks on West’s upcoming album, DON’T STOP PRAYING, which releases on Oct. 4. The record’s title track, “DON’T STOP PRAYING,” is already out.
The song emphasizes the importance of constant prayer in every circumstance.
West said, “I wrote this song for anybody who’s ever felt like giving up or losing their faith. I couldn’t be more excited to start the new year off with this new song. I hope it encourages anyone who hears it to join me in a commitment to prayer in 2024.”
Movieguide® reported how West recently spread hope through his song:
“Today, I’m taking you along with me to spread some hope and a bold message of faith in the form of a yard sign,” he began. “Ever since I wrote the song ‘Don’t Stop Praying,’ it really felt like a statement.”
“My team and I were talking about how there’s all these signs that are going to be in people’s yards. Everybody is getting the word out about something, and it’s like, well, what’s the campaign slogan of the believer, of somebody who follows Jesus?” West continued.
He’s using the phrase “Don’t Stop Praying” on the signs to encourage people.
