Country Singer Shares This Gospel Reminder With Fans
By Movieguide® Contributor
Anne Wilson shared the heart behind her song “The Cross” and explained how she hopes it inspires listeners to turn back to God.
“A rebel knows who paid the price for her mistakes,” Wilson said. “1 Peter 2:24 says, ‘He Himself bore our sins and His body on the tree, so that having died to sin we might live for righteousness. By His wounds, you have been healed.'”
“I wrote the song ‘The Cross’ on my new album as a reminder of what Jesus did for us — that He gave up His life so that we can have life in and through Him,” she continued. “And I want to remind all of you that no matter what you have done, no matter how far you have run from God, that it is never too late to come back to Him. He loves you so much, and He gave up everything to give you everything.”
Wilson’s song is a powerful reminder of the way that Jesus’ death covers all of our sins. We can always turn to Him, and He will forgive us and accept us no matter what we have done. The chorus of the song says, “Come and see a savior’s love that would die to make you new. Nothing you have ever done, can change what mercy’s done for you. And if you ever wonder if you’re worth so great a cost. Look up and see the cross.”
The inclusion of this song on the album highlights the faith that Wilson integrated throughout this project. Her goal was to keep her country style that her fans have come to love, while also staying true to her Christian roots and sharing the faith that guides her heart. This decision has caused her to touch many lives as many of the songs on “REBEL,” which was released last April, have already garnered millions of listens.

Anne Wilson wants to take the Gospel into unlikely places.
For her new music video for “Songs About Whiskey,” the Christian artist explained why they filmed it in a bar.
“This whole record, one of the main goals has been like ‘What would a rebel do?’” she shared in an Instagram video. “For every song we wrote, and every idea creatively, how can we make this video something so different that no other Christian artist would really do? And for me, it was doing it in a bar. What does it mean to take the Gospel into the world and preaching Jesus to a crowd of people who don’t know him? Which literally makes it so much more special to me.”
Fans responded with congratulations to the singer. “The One you follow was a rebel like you! Love this! This is what He called you to do! Well done Anne!” one user said.
“I love this ❤️your album is going to inspire so many people!” another person commented.
