Bethany Hamilton Expecting Fourth Child: ‘Life is a Gift’

Bethany Hamilton recently announced that she and her husband, Adam Dirks, are expecting their fourth child this summer.
“We’ve got SIX of us on board!!! 🤰🏼🥳🏄🏼♀️🤗☀️,” she captioned an Instagram video of her and her family surfing.
“Adam and I, and our whole fam, are so excited to be growing our family! I believe that life is a gift, and each and every life has value,” Hamilton, the inspiration behind Movieguide® Award winner SOUL SURFER, added.
Hamilton shared with her 2 million followers how God creates life, quoting Psalm 139:13-16:
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well,” the verses read. “My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance…”
“Every single human life is fearfully and wonderfully made, and I believe should be viewed that way!” Hamilton wrote.
“How beautiful to know you were intentionally made by God. It can bring so much meaning to your life: that you are loved. That you are wonderful. That you have purpose. That you are no accident,” her caption continued.
Already a mother of three sons—Micah, 2, Wesley, 4, and Tobias, 7—Hamilton reflected on the joy she has found in motherhood.
“8 years in to motherhood, I’ve realized that I value my children more than I value ‘my’ time. I value my family more than I value other things like certain types of wealth or success,” the surfer shared.
“I believe a joy-filled family is wealth, and to know God, that is the most beautiful and precious wealth of all,” she continued.
She concluded the post by encouraging her followers to invest in their families.
“We can pursue so many things in life, but what if we pursued what is right in front of us: the beautiful blessing that is family?!”

Professional surfer Bethany Hamilton recently shared about the difficulties of motherhood with only one arm.
Movieguide® Award-Winning SOUL SURFER tells Hamilton’s story of losing her left arm in a shark attack at age 13. Now, the 31-year-old is raising her third son, Micah, whom she had in February, and said her “tricks and adaptations are getting better with each child.”
“When they are this young and have the wobbly head and need constant attention, nursing, diaper changes, tummy soothing, lots of sleep and of course smiles, kisses and more,” Hamilton wrote on Instagram. “I use my feet to help with diaper changing, lots of pillows with nursing, a baby carrier all throughout the day and tricky styles of holding to keep baby’s head up.”
Hamilton says that one key is to “keep moving forward, have lil breaks and keep it positive!”
She added: “Plus I remember I’ve done it before. And as a family we make it work!”
Hamilton concluded by encouraging other mothers.
“Loving our lil Micah and looking forward to more life with him! Cheering on all you mommas out there grinding, loving and doing your best!” Hamilton said.
