By Movieguide® Contributor
Christian worship artist Phil Wickham and multi-time Grammy award winner Brandon Lake have partnered together to create a new song called “Love of God.”
“It’s Brandon and Phil, and we’ve got a brand new song for you,” Lake said in their announcement video.
“Yeah, it’s called ‘Love of God.’ You guys, this is a modern hymn that we wrote together with our buddies Cody Carnes and Benjamin William Hastings,” Wickham added. “We cannot wait to sing this on tour and with our churches, and we hope that it might be a blessing for all of you and all your communities.
He continued, “It’s filled with so much truth. Our hearts are bursting. We just finished a music video. Cannot wait for you to hear it. Sing it. Hope it’s a blessing.”
The lyrics to the song read:
Oh how great is the love of God
He paid our debt on that rugged cross
For all our days we will sing our Saviors praise
How great is the love of God
The song launches the start of the duo’s “Summer Worship Nights Tour.”
Lake shared a photo of an electronic billboard that had their picture on it as well as the song’s name.
“Y’ALL thank you SO much for all the love on our new single!! Love of God ❤️🔥” he wrote in the caption.
Many fans commented their praise for the song.
“My worship pastor at my church was telling me this morning he just added it to the song list we do at church he’s gonna lead it in a few months and I’m so excited to hear at my church soon,” one follower wrote.
“This song is absolutely one of the best songs ever written!! So, so good,” another person commented.
“Love of God” is streaming on all music platforms now.
Movieguide® previously reported on Wickham:
Christian artist Phil Wickham wants to see people on fire for God.
In an interview with CBN NEWS, the “I Believe” singer shared his heart for worship and the church.
“The Lord has put a real fire in my heart to absolutely love creating songs that light people’s hearts up for Jesus, and, specifically, our new prayers that we can sing together as worship songs,” Wickham said. “It’s a calling, and sometimes it takes some sacrifice, being away from home, all that.”
For Wickham, connecting people to Jesus and not to himself is what is important.
“When I hear a song is connecting with the church, I know that 98% of that church is not thinking about, or maybe more, they don’t know who I am, or not thinking about me. They’re just singing a new song to Jesus,” he explained. “And to think that that’s happening in churches, not just in the country but all over. It’s the biggest, hugest gift, and responsibility, and I just cannot, I don’t take one moment of that lightly.”
