Brittany Lutz on Spiritual Maturity: ‘I Want Jesus Navigating My Life’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Brittany Lynn Lutz, wife of TWILIGHT actor Kellan Lutz, is reflecting on spiritual maturity and how to experience emotions with the help of Jesus.

“Lately I find myself in the tension between grief and gratitude,” she wrote in a recent Instagram caption. “That narrow space where you give yourself permission to grieve the things that were, that are, that have happened, that haven’t happened, that didn’t happen yet, those expectations that weren’t met, that life you envisioned that you realize you may never get to live… while on the other side choosing to press into the gratitude of what is. Here. Now. Because there truly is so much to be grateful for.”

Lutz explained that it’s been “challenging” for her to handle the emotions that come along with grief but pointed to a quote that’s been helping her—“Emotions are great consultants, terrible CEOs.”

“Emotions are important. They have their place,” she continued. “They give us insight into people and situations. They are there to protect us. God created emotions. But they do not have the full picture. They should never be in the driver’s seat. Emotions never take us anywhere good when left behind the wheel for too long!”

Lutz concluded that “a big part of maturing spiritually in this season is taking those emotions and real feelings and rather than diving head first and indulging them without boundaries, rather bringing them to the feet of Jesus and asking Him to help me process, navigate, heal, and move forward. Because the *only* one who can see the full picture is Him. I want Jesus, who is the Truth, navigating my life. Not my emotions and feelings that have a bad habit of lying to me.”

Lutz often shares encouraging messages and reflections about her life via her social media. One recent post centered around the importance of waiting to find the right person to spend your life with.

“I know the weight of the wait feels like it’s going to crush you sometimes but stay faithful,” she wrote. “Keep working on yourself. Heal. Get close to Jesus. Get to know yourself. DON’T WAIT TO START LIVING. Live now. You are complete and completely worthy and lovely and incredible all by yourself.”

Lutz and husband Kellan share two children, Ashtyn, 2, and Kasen, 1.

In a recent interview, Kellan called this period of life “pretty, pretty great.”

“Having a son and a daughter, I’m a huge fan of not being outnumbered because children need parents, and they need love,” the actor explained. “And I know from growing up in a big family, I didn’t have a lot of attention. I want to make sure my kids feel like they have a mom and a dad.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the couple’s dedication to being parents:

TWILIGHT star Kellan Lutz is opening up about his family’s decision to leave Hollywood for Nashville.

“We’re doing it for our kids,” he told Fox News.

Lutz and wife Brittany share daughter Ashtyn, 2, and son Kasen, 1.

“The way the industry is right now, currently I can work and live wherever and then just fly to do movies. And at least my wife has a support system here when I’m gone,” the actor continued.

Having Brittany’s extended family in the area reminds Lutz of his own time with family.

The DUE JUSTICE star spoke further about the decision to move to Nashville in an interview with UPI.

“I’m a family man, and I want my daughter to have the most amazing memories with the family, especially the older ones, while they’re still alive,” Lutz said.

As for any missed opportunities that might come from not being based in LA — “I know I’ll always work and God will provide,” Lutz said. “And he has.”
