Brittany Lutz Reflects on Power of Testimonies: God Trades ‘Beauty for Ashes’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Brittany Lutz, wife of TWILIGHT actor Kellan Lutz, took to YouTube to remind her followers that God wants to use their testimonies to encourage others.
Lutz began by sharing Philippians 1:12, which reads, “Now I want you to know brothers and sisters that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.’”
She continued by reading from “100 Days of Believing Bigger: Devotional Journal” by Marshawn Evans Daniels.
“Remember your voice is your greatest supernatural endowment,” Lutz began reading. “You are the carrier of unique message from heaven that only your life experiences and abilities can convey. No one has lived your life muddled through your messes and made it to this moment the way you have.”
“This is why God is calling you higher, not because of your strengths, but because of your story and most likely because of your struggles,” she read. “Your struggles are connected to your calling and are, in part, what qualify you for greater impact. Others will learn to overcome, conquer, and find their path forward by hearing the word of your testimony.”
Lutz reflected on what it should and shouldn’t look like when we share our struggles.
“I’ve just seen on social media a lot of people be really vocal about their struggles with no intention of healing, with no intention of moving forward…if you have no desire to move forward out of the struggle and if you give your struggle a platform, you really aren’t helping anyone else get out of their struggle or be set free,” she explained.
Lutz experienced this firsthand after she suffered a pregnancy loss in 2020.
“I know it’s hard, I know it sucks sometimes, and the pain is literally unbearable, but God will restore and redeem and will trade all of your ashes for beauty, I promise,” she said, reflecting on the experience a few years later.
“None of those things are fun to walk through. I wouldn’t wish them on anyone else, and I never want to experience any of that again,” she added in her YouTube video. “However, what I will say is that those struggles created a community. They were a breeding ground for other people to share encouragement and their testimonies, and it is amazing how God truly, truly does trade beauty for ashes.”
Now, Lutz shares daughter Ashtyn, 2, and son Kasen, 1, with Kellan.
She frequently reflects on faith and motherhood on social media.
“In the darkest hours of trying for a family, I praised God for the children I knew He had for us to raise,” she wrote. “Sometimes we forget simple things like praising God for what He’s going to do before He’s done it. It is like medicine to our souls to praise Him in faith for what’s to come. This is how our faith grows.”
Movieguide® previously reported on the Lutz family:
TWILIGHT star Kellan Lutz is opening up about his family’s decision to leave Hollywood for Nashville.
“We’re doing it for our kids,” he told Fox News.
Lutz and wife Brittany share daughter Ashtyn, 2, and son Kasen, 1.
“The way the industry is right now, currently I can work and live wherever and then just fly to do movies. And at least my wife has a support system here when I’m gone,” the actor continued.
Having Brittany’s extended family in the area reminds Lutz of his own time with family.
“I remember growing up, my family had a farm in Iowa, and I saw my grandparents, and it was the best time. We spent a month or so on the farm. Cows, pigs, everything. But it’s fleeting. People aren’t living as long,” he shared.
