Candace Cameron Bure Shares the Bible Verses that Inspire Her to Love Others

Candace Cameron Bure is continuing her series of “Fightin’ Words,” sharing favorite Bible verses with her Instagram followers. 

In “Fightin’ Words Part Two,” Bure shared Ephesians 6:11-18:

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (NIV)

“The full armor of God is a belt of truth,” Bure explained. “It is a breastplate of righteousness. It is walking in the Gospel of peace and taking steps of peace. It is a shield of faith…the helmet of salvation, and our sword, what we fight with, is the word of God.

In her next video, Bure read Colossians 3:12-17:

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do,whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (NIV)

Bure pointed to these verses as helping her love others, “particularly those we disagree with.”

After reading the verse, the actress told her followers, “Meditate on that. It does a mind good.”

Candace Cameron Bure recently took to Instagram to share some of her favorite Bible verses to turn to when life seems to be too overwhelming.

“I wanted to give you some fighting words,” she started the video. “Some spiritual encouragement, straight from the word of God.”

She continued, “A lot of people ask me, especially when times are tough, whether we are struggling mentally or with relationships or at work, or just life, ‘Where do I go to in the Scriptures?’”

Bure then read Philippians 4:6-9:

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (NIV)

“Bad things happen in the world,” she continued. “And I stay positive because I trust the word of God and He tells me to dwell on whatever is pure and lovely and righteous and honorable and praiseworthy. And that’s how I keep my mind positive, knowing that God’s hand is in control of everything. I trust that and I focus my mind on what is good and right.”
