Carrie Underwood’s Husband on Parenting: It Made Me realize How Much God Loves Us
By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor
Carrie Underwood’s husband, Mike Fisher, said that becoming a father helped him better understand the depths of God’s love.
“[Becoming a father] kind of made me realize how much God loves us and the sacrifice He made,” said Fisher on the first episode of CARRIE AND MIKE: GOD & COUNTRY with I Am Second®.

Happy birthday Jacob! You’ve brought us so much joy this past year. Esphesians 3:20
Fisher’s sentiments echo John 3:16.
Underwood and Fisher welcomed their first son, Isaiah, in 2015 and their youngest, Jacob, in 2019.
Fisher said upon Isaiah’s birth that he felt a change in his purpose.
“Just thinking about now I have a responsibility and being a dad and always looking forward to that and just praying for him,” said Fisher.
Meanwhile, Underwood never envisioned herself as a mother.
“I was never good with other peoples’ kids,” said the “Jesus Take the Wheel” singer.
Underwood and Fisher experienced heartbreak with two miscarriages after Isaiah’s birth. The singer and former pro-hockey player looked to God to get them through it.
Movieguide® previously reported, “For my body to not be doing something it was ‘supposed to do’ was a tough pill to swallow. It reminded me I’m not in control of everything.”
The couple continues to be open about their faith and is giving us a more in-depth look through this series.
Underwood and Fisher will continue to share their story with viewers each week.
