CeCe Winans knows from experience just how important it is to trust God with everything.

“You got to trust God with your past. You got to trust him with your present,” Winans said on an episode of BETTER TOGETHER. “You got to trust him with your future.”

She loves to think of Jesus as the Prince of Peace because He was a completely different “ruler” than what people expected.

“It was an upside-down kingdom,” the “Goodness of God” singer said. “And I love that about him because his response is consistent but it’s always totally different from ours. You know, his plans are different.”

Jesus did everything with intention.

“The plans of God doesn’t always line up with ours, but they’re always right, you know?” she said. “And that’s one of the beautiful things to me about serving God, is that I can rest in knowing that nothing takes him by surprise. And it takes me a minute… but if you’re hit with something, your first response is kind of out of your flesh.”

But when you trust God, your next response will be to say “okay” and take it as it comes.

Her family relied on that trust when Winans’ brother Ronald physically died and came back to life.

She recalled, “The doctor came out and said, ‘He’s dead…’ And my father said, ‘Look, can we just pray for you? Can we lay hands on you?’ And the doctor said, ‘Well, okay.’ And we all laid hands on him, praying in the spirit. I’m sure he was like, ‘What’s going on?’ But he went back in there, the next words he heard was, ‘Ronald’s going to recovery.’”

Ronald lived another eight years after that day.

When “we were back in the hospital with Ronald, and we prayed, and it didn’t turn out the way it did the first time did,” Winans continued. “You know, he went on to be with the Lord. It was a huge disappointment.”

“I remember my sister saying, ‘How we going to make on without Ronald?’ I was like, ‘I don’t know. I don’t know. But God knows how we going to make it without him.’ You know, and God will carry you through any storm, you know.”

She says if she could change one thing about her past, she would tell herself to put more trust in God.

“I would just say, ‘Chill out,’” she said in 2024. “You know, you worry about things because, for some reason, you don’t think God is going to handle it. And I can look back and say, ‘Man, everything I had to face, He was right there, and he really did step up to the plate and He took care of it.’”

So trust in the Lord. He holds it all.
