THE CHOSEN is beginning to sell tickets for their theatrical run of the fourth season of the show.
All eight episodes will premiere in theaters across the world first, beginning February and lasting through March. THE CHOSEN website reads,
Episodes 1-3, February 1-14
Episodes 4-6, February 15-28
Episodes 7-8, February 29 – March 10.
Once the episodes have made their theatrical run, they will premiere on select streaming platforms.
Season 4 is about the rise of Jesus’s followers.
A synopsis of the fourth season reads, “Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus’ growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable—ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus’ message turns violent, he’s left with no alternative but demand his followers RISE UP.”
Dallas Jenkins had much to say about THE CHOSEN’s Season 4.
Movieguide® recently reported:
“We’re getting closer and closer to what we know is coming,” Jenkins told Fox News. “There’s some extreme pain and sadness that’s coming soon in future seasons.”
“And of course, there’s also some extreme joy that’s coming. But on the way there, Jesus is getting increasingly sad because of the fact that things are getting increasingly heavy,” he continued.
The director told the Christian Post that Jesus sees that his friends and followers don’t understand why He’s here. “They’re not hearing Him correctly when He tells them explicitly what’s coming, and that breaks his heart,” Jenkins explained.
Season 4 also includes the story of Lazarus’ death and Jesus raising him from the dead. The shortest verse in the Bible – “Jesus wept” – occurs during this story.
“That happens in season 4, and it happens more than once,” Jenkins said about Jesus weeping. “So I know that’s not necessarily the best advertisement for a show to say that this season is going to be – to have a lot of sadness. But I think it’s an important part of the story.”
“And the tension is mounting,” Jenkins added. “The enemies are starting to close in. As we reach the midway point of the show, we start to head towards what we all know is coming.”
