Before the World Series began last Friday, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw’s children left him the cutest voicemail that might leave you in tears.
Kershaw and his wife, Ellen, are the parents of four children: Cali Ann (10), Charlie Clayton (8), Cooper Ellis (5), and Chance James (3).
“Hi Dad, I have loved being here for all your games,” Cali began the voicemail, per The Players Tribune. “Ever since the day I was born.”
Charlie added, “You’ve had a lot of great moments in your life and in your baseball career.”
“I’m excited for the Dodgers to go to the World Series,” Cali chimed back in, “and for our family to be a part of it.”

The youngest of the Kershaw clan, Chance, said, “I love watching you play baseball.”
“You’re like the best player in the world. I can’t believe I have this dad. We love you,” Cooper said.
Charlie then said, “I’m excited for you to be home, come watch my baseball games, and maybe even coach them.”
“Now it’s your turn to be at all my games!” Callie said.
The voicemail ends with the Kershaw kids telling their dad how much they love him and a final “Go Dodgers.”
This voicemail means even more to Kershaw because last month the pitcher announced his retirement from baseball.
“8 unforgettable years. Over 3,000 strikeouts. 3 Cy Young Awards. 2 World Series titles. A lifetime of memories. Always a Los Angeles Dodger,” Kershaw’s Challenge shared on social media.
“Congratulations to our very own @claytonkershawon an extraordinary career. Thank you for the memories and the magic. Words will never be enough. Forever a Dodger. Forever our ace,” the post continued.
Many of Kershaw’s fans commented on the post with their gratitude for an incredible career.
“Thank you for the great memories, 18 great years. Enjoy your retirement with your family and friends,” one person wrote.
Another said, “Arguably one of the greatest pitchers to ever step on the mound. It was a pleasure to have witnessed greatness for 18 years. To put the cherry on top, you were a Dodger your whole career.”
“Congratulations on an EPIC career, family, and passion on and off the field! 18 years at the same ball park is unbelievable! Thank you for sharing your joy with us all. 🐐💙🐐💙💙 we are grateful!” another person commented.
Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers are currently down 2-3 in the World Series to the Toronto Blue Jays. However, the Dodgers aren’t worried and are expecting the series to come down to a Game 7. If Kershaw and the Dodgers can pull out a Game 7 victory, it will be one of the greatest retirement gifts any player has ever received.
