Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku praised God after recently suffering a major accident that left him with burns on his right hand and face.
In a recent locker room interview, the Browns player gave “all the glory to God” after he survived the accident.
“When it happened…my eyes were open,” he said gratefully. “I saw everything. I really should have been blinded. So luckily I’m not, so…I give all the glory to God.”
In another interview, Njoku revealed he had gotten many other messages from burn victims.
“They were telling me how like everybody feels like embarrassed to show whatever, so I wanted just to come out for them and show myself so…everyone might feel a little bit better about themselves,” he said. “At the end of the day, things heal.”
Although there was no detailed report of what happened to Njoku, the Browns released a statement that said, “TE David Njoku was added to the injury report as questionable after sustaining burn injuries to his face and arm during a household accident.”
From there, many of the Browns fans and players figured Njoku would be sidelined for their game the next day against the Baltimore Ravens. However, Njoku proved otherwise.
The tight end posted on his X page, “The flesh is weak. See u tomorrow #DawgPound.”
Since the accident, Njoku has decided to use his testimony to help others. He launched his own merchandise brand called “Withstand.”
The football player wrote on Instagram, “I want to use my platform to help bring awareness to an all too common issue and shed some positive light on an otherwise unfortunate incident.”
“With that said, I’m proud to launch the new Njoku ‘Withstand’ merch line, supporting burn care, prevention, and research,” he continued. “Every purchase of Withstand on my MILLIONS.co profile will have a share of proceeds donated to help the American Burn Association. Let’s make a difference together!”
The company Millions, “is a unique platform built to help athletes make money and grow their brand and following.
