Actresses Ansley Gordon and Danica McKeller are cheering one another on in their faith-based entertainment careers.
“I am most looking forward to seeing what everybody’s wearing. I know it’s like shallow, but I mean, like, Danica looks amazing,” Gordon, who wrote the script for A CHRISTMAS PRAYER, began to say at the 33rd Annual Movieguide® Awards Gala. “Shae, who stars in my movie A CHRISTMAS PRAYER, she looks amazing. And I’m just, like, fan-girling over everybody’s outfit.”
McKellar, who was standing nearby, heard her name and joined in on the conversation.
“I saw you walk up, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, she looks gorgeous,” Gordon told McKellar. “And then we were in improv together a million years ago. Isn’t that crazy?”
McKellar, who’s up for the Grace Award for Streaming (Actress), took a moment to credit to Gordon for inspiring her to help write movies.

“The movie that I’m nominated for, HAVE WE MET THIS CHRISTMAS? I also wrote, and she’s my inspiration for that,” McKellar told Movieguide®. “A couple years ago, we had lunch, and I was like, ‘Wait,’ like, I felt like I could write.”
Gordon replied, “I’m gonna cry! That was so sweet.”
McKellar continued, “It’s like, when I write these math books for girls, I want them to be able to see themselves in mathematicians. Like, yes, you can be a cute girl and do math, you know? I guess you can be a cute girl and write screenplays,” she joked.
Gordon told Movieguide®, “I think getting to celebrate everybody’s creative success and getting to do it in a way that feels really positive. It feels like the world is heavy, and getting to celebrate movies that uplift and make people feel good and also, like, entertainers who like making people feel good, I’m excited about that.”
Gordon has worked on many movies both as an actress and screenwriter. Her website states, “In less than three years, the Juilliard-trained screenwriter, actress, and producer has sold or optioned 30 projects, with more than half of them produced for a variety of platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, Hallmark, Paramount+, Lifetime, GAC, The BBC, UpTV and more.”
While Gordon is excited to make movies, she also is excited to welcome a new baby! She shared photos on Instagram of herself at the Movieguide® Awards, showing off her baby bump.
“An award show 8 months pregnant should be an Olympic sport + thank you for having us @movieguide – we had no fun at all, as I’m sure you can tell by the photos,” she joked.
