Dave and Jenny Marrs spilled their secrets behind keeping FIXER TO FABULOUS’ seventh season “fresh.”

“We get to work with so many different families and they have different wants and different needs and different homes, different style homes, so I really think just the nature of the fact that they’re so unique and different really does keep it fresh,” Jenny told TV Insider.

She continued, “None of these houses are like anything we’ve done before. Or even if the house is, the family isn’t, and their needs are different. I think if we weren’t designing a home for a family, if it was just a home that has to be neutral, then it would be repetitive. But we really do try to make each home very specific to who lives there.”

Dave shared that one of the episodes they’re most excited to share is a home renovation for a family with a daughter battling cancer.

“To see a community come together and rally around a family that’s going through a tough, tough time was just such an honor to be part of,” he explained.

Another exciting part of FIXER TO FABULOUS Season 7? The Marrs’ children get involved!

“When it is a really important project where you’re really helping out someone, they step up and make me such a proud dad,” Dave said. “They’re incredible.”

Jenny added that the kids make the decision about whether or not they’ll appear in an episode, saying, “When they want to be part of it, that’s on them. We don’t force them.”

In an interview with Better Homes and Gardens, Dave touched on how the couple avoids creative burnout with their renovation projects, seven seasons later.

“We’re pretty fortunate with our show that the variety of homes and family stories that we have is very, very different,” he explained. “There are always different styles and then different stories and different ways that they want to use the space. So, our homeowners really help us, you know, they help us keep the creativity alive because they all have different needs.”

It’s also important to the couple that they share amazing stories with their viewers.

“The most important thing for us is the story,” Jenny told ExtraTV. “We have 12 episodes in a season, we want to tell 12 really great stories.”

The next episode of Season 7 of FIXER TO FABULOUS premieres Dec. 9!
