Actor David Henrie puts faith and “beauty” at the forefront of his latest project, a new docuseries titled SEEKING BEAUTY.

“I’ve only done secular works, although I’m a man of faith, and I’ve been wrestling with this juxtaposition for a very long time,” the WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE star said. “But beauty happens to be something I’m really passionate about, because I think beauty, as I now understand it, is the language of the Divine.”

SEEKING BEAUTY is “a first-of-its-kind adventure documentary series bringing together audiences from all walks of life in a fun-loving exploration of the culture, architecture, food, art and music that point us to the beautiful and lead us to the divine,” per its website.

In the series, Henrie will explore places like Vatican City, Rome, Florence, Milan, Subiaco and Venice, looking at the relationship between architecture, music, art and faith.

“Going to these museums and these beautiful places, you see people from all different walks of faith,” Henrie shared. “From women in hijabs to people who are homeless on the streets to people from all countries and belief systems, just in awe at what the ancient world had to offer, particularly ancient Christian minds and what they built…Everything you see built, especially in Old Europe, is a reflection of that faith. What they believed Heaven looked like, what they believed their faith taught, that’s what you’re seeing.”

The REAGAN actor spoke to The Collision about the role beauty plays in his own life.

“For me, beauty is not a cost that can be cut. It’s something you can invite into your own life in many different ways,” he explained. “Beauty is something  we all need to invite into our lives in different ways, and into our own souls most importantly. There’s nothing more attractive than a beautiful person inside.”

He continued, “Beauty in older cultures was the conversation. If it’s not beautiful, it doesn’t have God’s fingerprint on it. We’re not going to build it unless it’s beautiful. Today, we’re more utilitarian. I want to be careful how I use my words, but if you look at what communist countries have produced, it’s not the most beautiful stuff. Why? God’s out of the conversation. The dignity and individuality of the human person is out of the conversation.”

Henrie’s experiences working on the episodes even made him want to “reshape” his own life and faith.

“What made me want to reshape my own life was learning about the faith of the people and the cultures that built these places,” he explained. “I’m an artist. I have a company, and we make projects. I was just blown away by how coordinated and passionate these people were about their faith.”

SEEKING BEAUTY premieres Jan. 19 on EWTN+, with new episodes released weekly.
