Joni Lamb, founder and president of Daystar Television Network, died on Thursday, May 7. She was 65.

“We know that she is in the presence of Jesus, reunited with Marcus, and receiving her reward for a beautiful life lived in surrender to the Lord,” Daystar wrote in a statement.

“Joni has been an inspiration to millions, but most of all to her family and all of us at Daystar. She has modeled what it means to be fearless, to be bold, and to stand for righteousness even when it’s unpopular,” they continued. “Her love and compassion for people were unparalleled. She will be so greatly missed.”

“We are thankful that we do not grieve as those who have no hope. And until we see Joni again, we will continue in this mission of taking that hope, that promise, to the whole world,” Daystar concluded.

According to CBS News, a recent back injury exacerbated ongoing health challenges Lamb was dealing with.

“Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of so many around the world, her condition worsened in the last few days,” Daystar said.

Lamb cofounded Daystar with her late husband, Marcus Lamb, in 1993. It grew from a single Christian station in Dallas-Fort Worth to the “largest Christian broadcast network in the world.”

The network reaches viewers “in nearly every country through satellite, cable, streaming and digital platforms.”

Lamb worked on-air and behind the scenes for nearly four decades.

Marcus passed away in 2021 from COVID-19 complications, ChurchLeaders reported. Lamb remarried in 2023 to Dr. Doug Weiss, CBN said.

“Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning,” said the Daystar Board of Directors. “We grieve her loss, and we are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind.”

Daystar emphasized that their mission “does not change,” noting that Lamb ensured a leadership team was in place “so that the ministry would continue uninterrupted.”

“Programming will proceed as scheduled, with on-air tributes to follow in the coming days,” the press release said.

She is survived by her husband Doug and three children—Jonathan, Rachel, and Rebecca— along with their families.

Please keep Lamb’s family and friends as they mourn her death but rejoice knowing she is with her savior.
