Bruce Willis’ Family Sees ‘Great Loss [and] Great Beauty’ Amid Dementia Battle

Demi Moore says there is “great loss [and] great beauty” in her ex-husband Bruce Willis’ battle with dementia.
“Given the givens, he’s in a very stable place at the moment,” she said in an interview with CNN. “And I’ve shared this before, but I really mean this so sincerely. It’s so important for anybody who’s dealing with this to really meet them where they’re at, and from that place, there is such loving and joy.”
Moore added, “There is great loss, but there is also great beauty and gifts that can come from it.”
She said something similar at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival in October, sharing, “The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is. But for where he’s at, he is stable.”
“What I always encourage is to just meet them where they’re at,” she continued. “When you’re holding on to what was, I think it’s a losing game. But when you show up to meet them where they’re at, there is great beauty and sweetness.”
Willis and Moore’s daughters, Tallulah and Scout Willis, recently shared photos of them spending time with their father.
“Grateful,” the sisters captioned their post.
Willis’ family announced his aphasia diagnosis in 2022. A year later, they shared that the diagnosis had changed to frontotemporal dementia.

Willis’ wife, Emma Hemming Willis, has been open about the challenges she’s facing during this time, as well as the support she’s received from Moore and her daughters.
“The family respects the way I’m looking after him; they really support me,” she told Town & Country. “If I need to vent, if I need to cry, if I need to rage — because all of that can happen and it’s okay to have those feelings — they are always there to listen.”
Hemming Willis continued, “I’m so thankful that we are this blended family. They’re very supportive, very loving, and very helpful, and a lot of people don’t have that.”
