The DANCING WITH THE STARS couple Hayley Erbert and Derek Hough just welcomed a baby girl, two years after Hayley underwent brain surgery.
“Every step of our lives has led us to you. Our hearts have been cracked wide open and our world is forever changed,” the couple wrote on social media on Dec. 29.
Their daughter’s name is Everly Capri Hough.
“I’ve reclaimed parts of myself I thought I’d never find again,” Erbert said. “But I’m truly grateful for it all, and so incredibly proud of myself and my body for everything it has endured. What a miracle it is that two years ago I was fighting for my life…and now, here I am creating life.”
Erbert had a sudden brain bleed in December 2023 and needed an emergency craniectomy. She’s spent the following year recovering and is healthy now.

Hough recently opened up about becoming a dad.
“It’s something I’ve been dreaming of for so long, can’t wait,” Hough said. “I’m excited.”
On their two-year wedding anniversary, Erbert said, “I am beyond excited for this next chapter and to see [Hough] as a dad is going to make my heart explode into a million pieces.”
On Christmas day, Hough shared a post of how in awe he and Erbert were of seeing a double rainbow after a downpour.
“Is this a sign?” he wrote alongside the video of him and Erbert in the rain. “After a downpour, the most beautiful rainbow appeared. Like a little sign from the universe. Maybe it’s our little one’s way of saying hello with a grand entrance. Our little rainbow baby , we’re ready to meet you 🌈”
In October, the couple revealed that they were pregnant in 2024 but lost their baby.
“There are some things in life that change you forever,” Erbert wrote at the time. “For us, this is one of those things. A chapter of love, loss, heartbreak, and everything in between.”
“As we are now in October, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we share this part of our story to honor our baby that never made it earthside. One in four pregnancies end in miscarriage, a silent heartbreak so many families know, and one we unfortunately had to experience. As we share this, know that there’s a rainbow not far behind. ♥️”
And she was right. It makes the rainbows they saw just a couple days before Everley’s arrival so significant and sweet.
Shortly after they shared their story, messages and comments flooded in from commenters who sympathized or shared their own infant grief.
The couple made a video thanking everyone who shared, messaged, and commented.
“When we decided to share this part of our journey, it was because hearing other people’s experiences during our own heartache truly helped us feel less alone,” Hough wrote. “…Wherever you are in your journey, hope is a powerful companion. You are never alone, and brighter days are ahead. ❤️”
Congratulations, Hayley and Derek!
