At this year’s D23 showcase, Disney revealed that ICE AGE: BOILING POINT will come to theaters on Feb. 5, 2027.
“BOILING POINT [is a] dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure that takes Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat and the rest of the herd to visit never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World,” a description of the movie reads, per Variety.
The movie, which was first announced in November 2024, will star all the original cast members as the characters take on this new adventure. Ray Romano (Manny) and Queen Latifa (Ellie) teamed up to make the announcement when the movie was first revealed last year.

The previous movies in the ICE AGE series have been great successes at the box office. The last movie, 2016’s ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE, grossed $408 million at the global box office, bringing the franchise’s total above $3.2 billion, making it the third most successful animated franchise of all time after SHREK and DESPICABLE ME. While the fifth movie in the series was of lesser quality, it maintained the family-friendly story that has made the IP so popular.
A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:
ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE has entertaining moments, but it’s not as good as previous ICE AGE movies. Sadly, it lacks a credible conflict. No amount of corny comedy and rapid paced animation can make up for lack of a compelling story. Boredom can’t be relieved by lots of fast movement. It’s relieved by getting an audience deeply attached to a movie’s characters and their story. COLLISION COURSE is to be commended, however, in the positive way it features a father, mother and child going through a difficult transition. Regrettably, it has several instances of scatological humor. Sid’s mother, Granny, wants to play nude bingo. Also, a llama in ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE comes across as an Eastern mystic, but his “wisdom” is exposed as selfishness.
Other announcements made during the D23 presentation include teasers for TRON: ARES, TOY STORY 5 and ZOOTOPIA 2. Thankfully, TOY STORY has avoided the pitfall that ICE AGE experienced by keeping a high-quality story at the center of its movies. The next iteration of the series promises to do the same, with Tim Allen bragging that the story is really good.
“It’s a very, very clever story,” Allen previously told Collider. “I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks]. It’s really clever.”
Fans of Disney’s most popular franchises have a lot to look forward to in the coming years as upcoming sequels hold lots of promise.
