Dolly Parton Launches Radio Show on Apple Music

By Movieguide® Contributor

Dolly Parton will give fans a peek behind the curtain on her upcoming radio show, “What Would Dolly Do?”

Co-hosted by Parton and Kelleigh Bannen, the show will give fans a look into the singer’s mind as she discusses her past, present and future.

In a teaser clip from the show shared with PEOPLE, Bannen asks, “What would Dolly do if someone told her she should tone down her style.”

“I’d say, ‘…I ain’t doing it,’” Dolly replies with a laugh, explaining, “I try to do what’s true to me. You got to have belief in yourself, and you’ve got to have belief in your talent.”

The show will be a four-part weekly series, with each episode focusing on a different topic.

In the first week, Parton will talk about her legacy and how her career has transformed over the years. In the second episode, Parton and Bannen discuss Parton’s many businesses and how she has managed her empire. Episode three will focus on Parton’s philanthropy and giving back. For the final week, the singer discusses her latest album, “Rockstar,” and the new stage of her music career.

“I’ve lived a life of many colors, and I enjoyed the chance to sit down with Kelleigh Bannen to discuss different areas of my life and career,” Parton said in a statement. “I hope the fans will have as much fun listening as we had recording this!”

“I do hope more than anything that I’ve been an inspiration,” she adds in the teaser. “That I can be an inspiration, that I can leave something behind that might just make some difference and just to say, well, if she did it, I could do it.”

“What Would Dolly Do?” will air on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET on Apple’s live-streaming radio station Apple Music 1 starting on October 25.

Movieguide® previously reported on Parton:

Despite her 77-years of age, country legend Dolly Parton hopes to continue to perform and work on new projects for many years to come.

“I would never retire. I’ll just hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song on stage someday, and hopefully one I’ve written,” Parton told radio host, Ken Bruce. “That’s how I hope to go. Of course, we don’t have much of a choice in that.”

While she never wants to retire, Parton later shared the three reasons she would give up her country music career.

“As long as I’m able to work, as long as my health is good, and my husband is good,” she said. “I mean, the only way that I would ever slow down or stop would be for [those] reason[s]. But in the meantime, I’m gonna make hay while the sun shines.”
