Dolly Parton to Release Album, Docuseries About ‘Family, Faith & Fables’

Dolly Parton is working more than a “9 to 5” with all of her new exciting projects.
The country music legend has announced a new four-part docuseries detailing her life and family history. It’s currently in production. The series will be released in conjunction with a new album titled “Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA — Family, Faith & Fables.”
“I cannot believe that it has been 60 years this month since I graduated from Sevier County High School and moved to Nashville to pursue my dreams,” Parton said in a statement. “My Uncle Bill Owens was by my side for many years, helping me develop my music. I owe so much to him and all the family members, past and present, who have inspired me along this journey. I am honored to spotlight our families’ musical legacy that is my Smoky Mountain DNA.”
But that’s not all she’s been up to. The “Jolene” singer has a new attraction called “The Dolly Parton Experience” opening at her Dollywood theme park in Tennessee.
“Well, the whole experience was overwhelming to me because it really just showed my life just flashing before my eyes,” Parton told Parade about the attraction. “People talk about when you’re dying, that your life flashes before you. I was looking for the pearly gates when I finished. I’m like, ‘Is it my time?’”
“It was overwhelming just remembering so much of my life through the years and all the people that have been a part of my life — some of them still here, some of them not. But it really makes you take inventory and appreciate all of the people and all those things and just think about what a journey has been,” she added.
Parton’s journey, however, is far from over.
TODAY reported, “Parton has been busy working on her Apple Music 1 radio show, ‘What Would Dolly Do? Radio,’ which she launched in October 2023. The singer also recently announced that she and sister Rachel Parton George will release a cookbook, ‘Good Lookin’ Cookin,’ in September.”
Throughout her life and success, though, the singer has held on to the belief that God had a lot of great things for her to accomplish in her lifetime. Movieguide® reported:
Parton is candid about her faith in God and said that she knew to follow God’s plan for her life from a young age.
“My grandpa was a Pentecostal preacher. So healing and praying and being anointed and all that stuff was nothing new to us, cause we survived because of our faith in God,” Parton said.
Parton recalled an older woman praying over her in her childhood church.
“She said I was anointed and [that] I was going to do great things,” Parton remembered. “Mama said…that just means that God has his hand on you, that you may do something special.”
“But that triggered a faith in me, because I believe that I was supposed to do something good…I never let go of that because I always felt responsible to God that I was supposed to be doing something for God. And so I still feel like that. And I’m still doing it. Trying to,” she added.
