BOSTON BLUE’s Donnie Wahlberg encourages us to “renew” ourselves in our relationship with God.

“Every day can be a season,” he said in an episode of “The George Janko Show.” “We have to choose…[to] wake up and be renewed. And if you don’t in that day, it’s kind of a struggle.”

Wahlberg explained, “I guess what I would say is that there are times when I’m, like — I’m learning, I’m connecting, I feel the Holy Spirit, I know it’s in me, and everything is good.”

The actor recalled a moment when he had “just been in a patch of realizing, ‘Okay, you have a lot of work to do. You have a lot of surrender still to go.’ You have to continue to build, or to let Him…rebuild.”

“I’m just working on my relationship and being someone who has always had to know the answers. I’m dealing with the fact that I don’t in a really big way,” he continued. “I thought I was renewed a year ago…when I say a season, I’ve just been realizing sometimes you could feel the moments when you’re shining, and then you feel the moments when you’re not.”

Wahlberg concluded, “Renewing in Him is wonderful.”

His wife, Jenny McCarthy, made similar comments about surrender during an episode of the “Heal Squad” podcast.

“We’ve surrendered. We really have given our life to the Lord and are just trusting the path, and honoring what we’re here to do through him,” she said

In a 2024 appearance on THE KELLY CLARKSON SHOW, McCarthy shared how she prayed for someone like Wahlberg.

She told host Kelly Clarkson she had just gone through “a slew of uncomfortable and not healthy relationships” and was looking to “reset” her dating life.

“I told God, I was like, ‘Listen, don’t bring me [a] half-baked guy,’” McCarthy joked. “Then the moment came, and Donnie was on a talk show I had. And I interviewed him, and I was like ‘Oh wow, he’s funny.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, he’s smart. Oh, he’s hot…I like him.’ The interview went from six minutes, to an hour and a half. The audience and the producers were like, ‘Uh we gotta go,’ and I’m like, ‘I’m in love.’”

Wahlberg’s words are a reminder to surrender to Christ and renew yourself each day.
