DWTS’ Gleb Savchenko ‘Enjoyed Every Moment’ on Set With Danica McKellar

DANCING WITH THE STARS pro Gleb Savchenko recently opened up about his experience filming SWING INTO ROMANCE with Danica McKellar.
“It was a lot of fun!” he told Fox News. “It was my first movie. I had about 18 scenes…I played Alexander Ivanov, this Russian superhero in dance. It was incredible.”
Savchenko said he “enjoyed every moment” making the movie and “came on set even when they were not my days to shoot, just to learn.”
“I was behind the scenes, I had earphones on, just to listen and see the monitor; what they were doing, how they were acting,” he explained. “I was almost like this month of an acting job was an acting boot camp for me. But at the same time, I had a chance to train Danica and dance with her. We had a lot of fun doing this, and she’s so into dance.”
Savchenko said, “If I have a chance to do it again, 100% would do it.”
A synopsis of SWING INTO ROMANCE reads:
“SWING INTO ROMANCE stars McKellar as Christine Sims, a former dancer who returns to her hometown for their famous Fall Festival only to discover her family’s general store is in trouble. To save the family business, Christine has to return to her roots and dust off her dancing shoes, all while coming face to face with her ex-fiancé, Alex (Savchenko) and maybe even finding love. David Haydn-Jones (SUPERNATURAL) also stars as Matthew, the new (dance) partner in Christine’s life.”
McKellar has shared her excitement about the upcoming holiday movie in an Instagram post.
“It was SUCH a joy to relive the thrill of my time on DANCING WITH THE STARS with the incredible Gleb Savchenko,” she wrote. “The really cool and unique part was that we were mentors to each other: Not only did he mentor me in dance, but this was first acting role, so I had the great pleasure to mentor him in acting!”
The actress continued, “We would alternate between dance rehearsals and acting rehearsals over the weekends. He was like a sponge with everything I taught him and did a terrific job playing my ex-fiancé and ex-dance partner – you’d never know it was his first acting job. And dancing with him is some of the most fun I have ever had on a movie set!”

Danica McKellar is ready to use her DANCING WITH THE STARS experience in her upcoming movie, SWINGING INTO ROMANCE.
“I’ve been wanting to dance in a movie since I was on DANCING WITH THE STARS in 2014, but I’ve always loved dancing,” McKellar shared. “My mom was a professional dancer before I was born, so the love of dance is in my genes.”
McKellar also serves as an executive producer on SWINGING INTO ROMANCE, and the movie is truly a family affair as McKellar’s husband, Scott Sveslosky, wrote the story.
SWING INTO ROMANCE premieres on Great American Family October 7 at 8 p.m. EST.
